"Cafe Racer" such a loose term! Craigslist "Gem" of the week!

Yeah but the pedal set is available so a 5 speed swap would be easy its floor shift already

I had a Cortina with the same OHC engine and it actually moved out pretty good for a little 4-banger.

That Pinto is rather sweet in its own way. Upgrade the brakes and shocks and do something with the motor and it could be a fun drive.

Or go mad an squeeze in a larger motor and fat tires and have even more fun.

When I was a kid, we lived on a dead end street and all the local street racers would test on our street. A friend of mine brought his 351 swapped Pinto. Some how in the middle of a monster burnout, the front of the driveshaft dropped, dug into the street and shot out the back window. Sounded like a cannon going off. But yeah, V8 Pinto's can be a beast....

If I can swing it, I would keep the paint just light wet sand and clear... then the rest comes apart, driveline, suspension, brakes and interior all get restomod treatment the pony car world has all kinds of handling stuff and the motor gets the DOHC treatment, bench built header and side draft Webbers lots of motor kits from the crank up... likely a two year project to pay for it but in the end a daily driver with heat and A/C

This setup looks the business

Local guy here has a street driven, tube chassis Pinto with a 289. It's ridiculous. I'll see if I can find some pics.

Not sure, but the DOHC heads from ford and mazda 2.3 to 2001 will bolt on, cranks and pistons from same (not all) are bolt on also... lots of build options from budget to empty bank build... you can make 230HP with a grand less exhaust and aspiration choices, couple that with a five speed trans and you have a neat street DD in the werks

Looks like a Sierra Cosworth engine if so yes the head is Cosworth.
Ford Zetec engine was designed by Cosworth and looks like half a DFV.

2.3 Mustang is nearly as powerful as the 5.0 sold in the UK and uses a lot less fuel.

310hp - I just googled it...
and up to 30mpg on little US gallons not big British gallons (128oz vs 160oz)

That's impressive.

This mode Mustang is available in right hand drive and is selling well in the UK, I see more 2.3s than 5.0s.

thats awesome the tank alone is art and the fit and finish is beyon reproach
but it has a lot of things wrong with it you can see it was designed around the seat looking stock and in the stock position in reference to the rear half of the xl frame
but all the stretch is done forward and having those footpegs that far forward of the seat just makes it totally unridable unless the rider is up on the pegs ,really it probably can handle a dirt road if the rider is standing on the pegs but that's all
i could get into how difficult the from sitting to standing transition would be butteye won't ...sitting down feet forward its a long ass reach to the bars...you gonna need crazy long arms to not be locked out at the elbows you cant ride a motorcycle like that :-X :-\ im suprised it came out of yoshi's shop ,sad but true it's just a showpiece :'(

Let's strap a rolling meat slicer to your balls and go riding.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/1967-Custom-Built-Motorcycles-Pro-Street-/201743689926?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2ef8dc68c6:g:ZxIAAOSw5cNYSXxs&item=201743689926

I think it's actually pretty cool, if one wishes to have a bike that's never to be ridden!

And there are way worse machines on this thread for way more money!
