Sounds perfect then. You gonna snag it? If not I might need to make the drive.. Couple hours each way isn't too rough.

cool little bike, wonder what size 2 stroke he subbed out for the stock 90cc four stroke? Not going to pay 3000 for it no matter what but still a cool little bike.

Re: "Cafe Racer" such a loose term! Craigslist "Gem" of the week!

Does look cool. Pretty sure those were stock 2 stroke. 90cc or so I believe.

and it sold a week ago for 4050 ::)

Give me a couple of months. I'll have an R100 done that'll put that one to shame. And if you have $4k+, we need to talk.

Guess I should look closer next time. Thought that was a Honda S90. Now that you guys mention it I see the Yamaha on the side.

He claims it had the $6k reserve and that it didn't sell. Asked me what I thought it was worth, told him he should have taken the $4050 when he had the chance.

He thinks the Bimmer is a $25K bike. Here is his reply when I told him he should have taken the $4k and the $16k bin was scaring people off. Runs a shop and says his time on that bike makes it worth $25, yet he wants less than half that. Sounds like a bad business plan to me. I don't see 480 man hours in that.

Maybe, but also it could attract the bigger spender who appreciates a bike like this and thinks he can score a 16k bike for 6k, you know there is a lot of people in this world that spend money in lots of funny different ways.
If a customer payed me to do all the work I did rebuilding this bike, it would cost them 25k in parts & labor.
I run a shop and bought the parts at cost and spent 4400, and put in at least 12 weeks in this project, that's 480 hours, at my shop rates that's 19,200, man I wish i could get that, but I think 7500 is fair.
It handles like a scooter, it's so lite but has power like a dirt bike.
If I don't get it, I will keep it and ride the piss out of it.

$52 HR for shop time is reasonable, he may have spent the 480 hours "in" the shop, but most of that was likely chin scratch and the book don't add for building ideas and round table discussion... I work for a living because I like to tinker on bikes, but if you do it as a job and a business you can't charge $52 and hour and also pay the techs same... somewhere you need revenue and since you cant go write tickets to speeders you need to find other ways to create revenue "wile you tinker", this guy needs to build 3 or 4 bikes a month that pay da dang biyows... that shed light and provide heat and cool etc... and I think $70 an hour is fair for any labor rate... who today can live for under 50K a year?? Not me so I pay myself $52hr and take four weeks off..

His math works out to 40 an hour. 192/4.8=40

But your post is spot on nonetheless. He's a joker. 480 hrs to take a shit.

The frickin' RFY shocks are on upside down!

If you're gonna remove the grab rail, fill the holes....even if you use some button head Allen bolts or something!

For $19K, you could have bought a cheap MAC exhaust that isn't rusty. And spray bomb the triple clamp bolts with a 99 cent can of WalMart paint.
Lord....I can build a better bike in my garage for a tenth of what he "spent".

Fair deal here for the trail 90 folks under 500 miles:
