Candy Gold Paint- Seat Color Options?

Question for you guys. I'm considering making a fiberglass cafe seat w/ a cowl. What I'm struggling with is that I want to keep the tank and side covers and the candy gold is in not too shabby a condition.

What would you guys recommend as a color for the cowl. Unfortunately I'm too poor at the moment to go get the candy gold matched and sprayed. So I'm relegated to a rattle can job.


Another option is to do a full repaint so everything is uniform and in a color of my choosing, but I can't seem to say goodbye to the candy. Or, leave everything as is, which, well I mean, this is DTT LOL. What do you fellas think?


FYI, I'll be losing the fender and hopefully doing a taillight mounted off to the side. Hope to hear your suggestions.

I would just ask a painter what it wold cost and save till I have enough.

I like the gold and it looks like it is in good condition. Just put up with it stock until you have the cash. I don't think any other colour would look right.

You have another option which makes things a whole lot easier for you. Use a black cafe seat. Either full leather or have your cowl painted gloss black with gold pin stripes or lettering. Otherwise if you want it to match then +1 for a painter.

Thanks all. Unfortunately the paint is not perfect on the tank currently. There are a couple of what look like tiny rust rings on the left side and a little bit of what looks like some chipping or reaction to maybe some spilled gasoline on top around the gas cap. Not sure what I want to do about it if I keep the gold around.


I'm thinking deal with it (as someone suggested) until I can get the coin to have it matched, a seat painted and the tank touched up. OR actually man up and go all out and redo the paint. I can only learn from doing something like that. I'm pretty much being pulled 50/50 in both directions which means I'm not moving at all haha. Thoughts?

If you will regret losing the gold and your not confident in painting it yourself, save the cash and get it touched up.

Personally i really like the bike in that colour
