Carb Trouble

JESUS FREEK

Been Around the Block
Wow, came home from my vacation to our house smelling like gasoline! Took the bike for a quick ride Fri before we left and yes,as always petcock was in the off position Wife is freeking out, I couldnt figure it out till I walked into the garage, check our boat{1964 V bottom Starcraft} nope not it, walked over to my bike to find a leaking carb on my 73cl350. 1 small drip followed by 4 faster drips then it would quit for a minute and go thru the same cycle .It is coming from the bottom of the bowl, out the zerk at the bottom. I removed those drain hoses for appearance purposes. What next? Bad petcock? Carb rebuild, as if I know how to do that yet.

Forgot to add I removed the screw and drained the remaining gas{ I think that was all of it] from the bottom of the bowl. went to bed,and left the bike in the garage, after alot of cleaning in the garage, woke back up to get some water and again smelled gas upstairs, went back down to the garage and checked on the bike and wouldnt ya know it,there is gas leaking into the plastic container that I set under the carb. the petcock is in the off position, I am thinking I have 2 problems here petcock and carb. Damn these old bike,I just ordered my clip on too, prolly shouda bought a petcock instead

Get a petcock rebuild kit. If it's leaking from the overflow on the carb it's probably a sunk float.

thx fellas, long day at work, all I was able to do tonight was replace the petcock with another one that I had laying around the garage. I got hosed on a tank a while back( didnt know it till now) rookies. It looked great on the outside, some fisheyes in the paint, but whom ever re did the inside did a piss poor job and some of the gunk had passed through the filter and found its way to the carb, well see how the pet cock works in the morning, fuel was running out both sides,I turned it to the off position, left another one of the wifes tupperware under the zerk under the carb bowl, well see if this one is any good and no fuel seeps out

Well after a night in the garage, i figured the carb issue, it was a stuck float, now your prolly curious on how it was stuck? The P O I had purchased the tank from, not sure why, but the liner that was used in my tank has begun to flak towards the rear of the tank, my fuel filters have caught some, not all of it and it made its way to my carbs. Now I know, a little more than I did before. must decide if I want to spend the money on this tank or find another one. Thx everyone for the replys. Im a noob trying to find my way.
