I don't blame you. And I'm thinking I know exactly what you mean by "within reason." Not pay your eye teeth for some NOS part worth more than the bike when something similar will do, but not change out correct parts for others. When it comes to original bikes in good condition, I concur. My old CB450 K0 was kind of ratty when I got it. The PO had installed black Progressive shocks, Sudco / Mikuni carbs, and a set of low K&N bars with one of those generic round mirrors with it's own 7/8" clamp to go around the bars. And some different, but period correct handgrips. Didn't save the original parts. In this case, I didn't have the guilt of having done it myself, and it was probably a better bike for it. I did swap to a bar end mirror, and cut about an inch out of each end of those bars, though. Anyway, enough nostalgia. That's an awesome ride, and I'd love to hear that motor sing flat out in third around a bend 8)
