cb 350 tank

Been Around the Block
I recently bought a tank for my cl350 cafe project. I am not getting gas through the 2 bungs underneath the tank. I think that is why I can't get the bike to idle. I took a wire coat hanger and scraped the inside of the bung till I reached the bend and removed what looked like plastic. My fear is that whom ever tried to restore the tank plugged not only the 2 bungs but the holes inside the tank that lead to the bungs. Would this be the cause of my lack of idle? What and how would I go about fixing this?

You mean the crossover tube? If they are clogged, it will prevent gas getting from one side of the tank to the other. So you would run out of gas before the tank was empty.

As long as the petcock is clear and any lining wasn't actively flaking apart, you should still be able to idle.

yeah, check and make sure theres no debris coming out of the tank in the gas. dirty gas can mess thing up real quick.

No debri, and fresh gas in the tank. I can't figure it out. I am a little new at this. Is there a way to adjust the idle other than the 2 screws with springs on either side of the engine that move when you use the throttle?

have you tried taking the carbs apart and thoroughly cleaning them? everytime i have idle problems its always a blockage in the idle circuit somewhere

Not yet, but I think this is gonna be my next project. I put my old tank back on, and put new fuel in it again. Its runs and idols for a minute and then it dies. When I go to start it again it takes a lot of cranks. I think I may need a new battery. I bought new plugs only to find they sold me the wrong ones. Damn I can't win for loosing. I startd playing with the screws to adjust the idol that way,it worked for a minute, died and now won't start. What have I done?. If that's all the tube does is trransfer fuel from one side of the tank to the other I think I can sufferwith it emptying out soon then later. Bad idea?
