CB100 First Build

I got the seat and tank from the distributor for the skyteam ace here in oz.

Was a bargain in comparison to some of the replica Honda fibreglass tanks around.

Tank is steel. Seat is injection molded plastic. It came with all the mounting brackets, peacock, tank strap, and new ignition to match the keys for the tank cap.

Can anyone give me some advice on front wheels. I want to swap to a wheel with bigger disc but with the same diameter and width rim. Any ideas?

If it were me I would swap to a larger fork too.

450, 305 and 160 should all have large single front drums(DLS).
A lot of the racers run a t500 drum.

If trying to keep it simple then I assume the 160 has the narrowest wheel.
175 has a smaller drum that I think is about the size of the 350, while bigger then the 100, I would still seek something larger.

Got my 125cc piston today.

Also has a aluminum battery tray made up that will mount up under the seat.

Plus have the rest of the engine parts for the rebuild waiting to be picked up on Monday.

Now for some progress with getting it running.

I have been on the look out for a complete 350 front end. But no luck yet.

Check out some racers.
All the formula CB and LWSV guys all but throw out the stock from ends.

Why, because they are made in China or because they are as good as anything else but 1/3 the price?

No, they are not as good as anything else.
When they were $25 for a pair shipped on eBay it was OK.
But good shocks can be had for similar money so there is no reason to run RFY shocks.
Guys just think they look cool and most that are building "for a look" wouldn't know a properly handling bike if it ran then over

Agreed. The Chinese rfy shocks single handedly discredit a build.

Handling is one area I would never go cheap on with a build.
Was most likely going to get new standard shocks if I couldn't find a good upgrade.

Started the engine work today.
Got the head off easy enough, started on the bottom end but have a screw on the stator cover that has been burred head so kind of stuck there.

Here are a few pics of the work today.

Also a pic of the new 125cc piston next to the 100cc piston.

The plan for this week is to get the sleeve bored, bottom end taken apart then sent for soda blasting.
Weld on tank and seat mount and remove any tabs from the frame i dont need anymore, then off for sandblasting and powder coating.

Just as a note, the 125 has a different stroke than the 100 does so your going to have to spend some time playing with the jetting
As you arnt going to have a solid starting point.

Yeah figured I would have some issues with the jetting. Was thinking of getting a different carb but not sure what would be best.
