CB175 Timing

I'll paypal someone the cost of a six-pack if they can walk me through this, step by step.

Does anyone know how to check the timing (both static and strobe/light) on a 1971 CB175? I've searched high and low and couldn't find detailed instructions on how to do this.

The shop manual says to remove the left crankcase cover to adjust the static timing, and aligning the F-mark. I tried to do this, but engine oil spilled everywhere.

I've also done strobe light timing on my 750. On the points plate/spark advancer there was a little hole to shine the light through to make sure the timing was on. The CB175 has the points plate/spark advancer, but there's no hole or any other instrument to measure/time.

Any pointers or tips would be greatly appreciated. Pictures a huge bonus. I'm a dumbass.

Thanks!

Looks like I fixed it ;)

I didn't need to check timing, but that IS on my to-do list before it's self-certified as road ready. Thanks for the pointers.

Looks like I owe ya a 6-pack :D PM me your email address and I'll send you some funds. Only one guarantee - you gotta take a picture of the 6-pack and post it...
