CB200 cam chain

Currently rebuilding a Honda CB200 twin, original build around 1974 (Australia) I think, and when ordering a cam chain, many places say it is 219H-88L.
Meaning is a certain size chain with 88 links.
However, I opened the engine and counted the links to be 86, not 88, the 219H being the same.
Seems there may be differences as in the UK they advertise cam chain for the CB200 @ 86 links.
Best I can find is perhaps it originated in the UK and is perhaps a CB200 "B" model.
Any comments...??

As long as it's 219H it should be fine. What I mean by that is that the stock cam chain is quite light with thin pins and side plates. CB750, CB72 etc all used 219H chain and any of them would work but may need to be shortened.

CB200 has a taller cylinder than CB160 or 175. It also had one extra tooth on the crank sprocket and 2 extra teeth on the cam sprocket, so the 200 has a longer cam chain. CA/CB160/175 and CB350F all had 82 link chains and I cannot find my CB200 parts book to confirm the number of links on that bike but all markets had the same chain. Order what you can find and if it's 2 links too long, shorten it and use a clip link.

I think you may have misunderstood the post.
I am in Australia and as far as I am aware, the bike is an Australian model although I guess possible import from UK(who knows).
My chain has 86 links.....all advertised replacement chains in the US and Australia have 88 links.
Only ones with 86 links seem to be the UK CB200"B" model.

Having lived in the UK and Australia, I am sure I understood your post but i may not have answered your question the way you expected.

UK and Australian and US model CB200 have the same motor and the same cam chain. All that series of motors use a 219 sized cam chain. any 219 chain will work as long as it is split ie comes with a connecting link.

You counted your chain as 86 links and on ebay I see any number of 86 link 219H chains ranging from 30 bucks to 55 plus shipping. I believe that 219T is replaced with 219H but there were/are many varieties of 219 chain and all will work as long as they are long enough. if the chain you order comes with a split link and is actually 88 links, just remove one pair of links.

Well on Ebay in Aus most are advertised as 88 links.......except those from the UK and Singapore (latter being old stock by the look of it)

Anyhow, the chain is indeed 219H, always has been, no change there.
As for a joining link, no, they do not normally come with a master link, the idea being you must thread the chain over the crank to install.
Any that would be listed with a master link would be el-cheapo knockoffs.
However, there is apparently differences as far as manufacturing data I managed to scrounge up.
No problem, I am fine with my setup and repair schedule, it was merely a heads up for anyone who might be caught out on this in the future.

I hate endless cam chains but that's one reason that the 200 has a removable sprocket where the smaller twins were pressed on.

BTW, where in OZ are you located?
