cb200 tank

Hello,
I have been looking at buying a CB200 tank. I found one, but the entire bottom lip/rim is kind of brown. It doesn't seam to be rust though as it seems pretty solid. It almost seems like it is old gas or something that sprayed up on it....kind of like tar, but doesn't really scrape off with a fingernail. Has anyone every experienced this on these tanks?

thank you,
Steve

Might be some kind of stain from sitting on the floor in grease or something.

Gotta pic of it?

Inside or out? All tanks will get a bit of surface rust if they sit out dry in storage. Nothing alittle shaking with some larger bolts (make sure you can use a magnet on them in case they get stuck) and some gas mixed with seafoam won't fix. If you're still concerned, run an inline filter for the first few fill ups.
