You are real crazy, my friend said when I told him I will design a mold to press cafe racer seat cowl that fit my CB350 K2 and CB450 K3. I told him, I just do not want to pay $150 for a seat that made of steel sheet, paint and cover with low quality faux leather. In addition, if I do a good job, i could sell it on ebay. So I really take time to do it.
So the first task is drawing the cowl that I want. It is ok with my limited drawing capacity.
And the 3D:
The materials for the seat is 2mm thick 5052 Aluminum sheet and I used 1mm thick quality cow leather (use for making the seat cover of luxury car).
I sent the drawing to a CNC shop, after 3 week of CNC and testing, The product is finally finished:
And a more detail on the leather:
I could make 2 seats/day. If you want it, please let me know. And, comment me on this seat as I was quite a lonely in doing every thing.
Wow that's an exellent job. Really clean Viet! I'm loving the leather. Curious to see another angle. Do you have a photo of the bottom side, and maybe a side view on the bike?
I will take some photos of the bottom and side view and post to this topic. Thank a lot for your first comment.
Yeah, it is my CB350 that I have a topic with it. Just rebuild it from a pile of trashes.
P/S: I will soon introduce the CDI ignition (HEI module with mechanical advance) for these bike. Will surprise lot of riders with this special ignition set up which allows 10k RPM without omitting a round. Also this ignition (those tested for 300 km already will be tested till it reaches 1000 miles on road test) will not be a black box, you will see that all components are easy replaceable, high quality and extreme durability.
Hi,
Stamping in my understand is different process with power and fast moving mold. The one I use is using a pressing machine to slowly press the mold into the aloy sheet to make the cowl shape.
It takes a lot of time to trim the excess and re bending but it ensures no crack and thickness of the product.

Hi guy,
I list my item on ebay. You can buy direct on that site: http://www.ebay.com/itm/261159626426?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
Thank you
Brendon bought one off eBay, I have it here now.
It's a real nice piece of kit.
Do you make one with the indicator(?) brackets a bit further forwards?
Needs very slight tweaking for CB360 but a simple job
Thank Mike.
