Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Weird Pipes) FRESH PICS UP!

*sighs* Youngins . . . Dave's gonna be off gallivanting around with his hopeful Frat bros. I'll be working, but probably not on his CB. I'll be heading over in the early afternoon and putting in a good amount of work. Dave will be . . . "rushing," W(hatever)TF that means. heh

I actually got some work done on Monday. Not on his bike, but, progress is progress!

That's the highlight. Little by little things are coming together. I am going to keep at it until I really can lay down some pretty beads that don't just look good, they are functional, too.

I have to bother Dave this week. I haven't heard from him. I want a status update on the header locking collars, because ones those are done, it isn't too hard to finish the header with another few hours of work. I also have a lot more space in the garage I work out of now, and the owner of said garage wants to clear out enough space so I can basically rent out his garage officially, taking all of the stuff out the garage I currently rent, including my terribly beat up but much beloved 1989 Honda CRX (with a turbo engine swap residing in the engine bay) so I can get the thing rolling again. THAT will be a fine day for me. heh

ugh wish I could whip up an exhaust like that, I need to get more involved with metal work

Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Weird Pipes) FRESH PICS UP!

Whoa Brad, that might be a wee bit over the top pal. He's a goofy kid that's more annoying than anything most of the time, but seriously.....

Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Weird Pipes) FRESH PICS UP!

No thanks. I hate goats. I hate the way they smell. I hate the way they taste. And I hate how they look at you with their beady goat eyes.

Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Weird Pipes) FRESH PICS UP!

Our crew bought one to eat for our end-of-season party in '08. We slaughtered "Brownie" on Halloween. Kinda morbid as our captain didn't procure the sharpest knife, and slitting the throat became sawing the throat! They taste just like they smell. Goaty. Musky.

Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Weird Pipes) FRESH PICS UP!

I hate goats. and yes, malta is infested with them. hell, my grandmother used to raise goats, and a lot of my family still does.

Anyway, I'm done with fraternity things for a while. Been busy keeping up with classes lately. I was extended a bid to the fraternity, but my gpa is too low to pledge this semester, so it'll wait till next fall, which has its own benefits.

I plan to get back on this soon as possible. Todays really busy (got myself a job out here, as, get this, a taste tester) so I wont have much time today, but tomorrows a little more free and I'll be able to make up a more refined drawing of what The Beave wants me to get machined for the exhaust collar.

Who wants to make a buck, has a lathe, and has some 1.5" stainless stock available to them? it needs an internal bore of 1.25", and some other things that The Beave figures will help flow a bit. But still nothing too hard to turn up for a skilled machinist.

Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Weird Pipes) FRESH PICS UP!

Why stainless?
Alloy doesn't get hot enough to get damaged and is hell of a lot lighter (plus easier to machine)

Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Weird Pipes) FRESH PICS UP!

Rust, mostly. It really won't weigh all that much since the OD will be 1.5" and the ID will be 1.25". It will also make my life easier keeping the whole thing stainless, not that I can't weld SS to regular steel, but, it's simpler to keep it one material.

Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Weird Pipes) FRESH PICS UP!

I though it may be to keep things simpler if your welding everything together, I meant aluminium alloy though.
I guess your going to do something 'different'.
I made some ordinary clamp pieces and welded thick washer to pipe to get thickness for gasket seat.
Used alloy tube instead of the Honda split collets, almost sure I posted pictures, was a couple of years ago I made system

Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Weird Pipes) FRESH PICS UP!

OH! OH OH! I get it.

I get REALLY confused when people say "alloy" because ALL modern metals are alloys . . . I do prefer the British spelling of aluminIum, too.

Yes, we are doing something different than that. It will allow him to keep his stock retaining system, as he likes the look of it, but provide MUCH superior sealing. (In theory. Because I've never dealt with this stuff before. heh)
