cb350 carbs

Been Around the Block
So I started to tear my carbs apart for my cb350 and they are toast. They have a million pin holes in the bowls and just unrebuildable. I had a buddy of mine who is a motorcycle mechanic look at them and he told me the same thing. So my question is will any carbs off of any other bike bolt right up to the 350 that won't cost me an arm and a leg? I've been looking at the mikuni's but don't have that kind of cash lying around right now. Or if any one has an extra set that they would like to sell please let me know.

Thanks in advance,
-Jon

The carbs are bad because the bowls have "pinholes"? I'm sure your friend is good at what he does but today's mechanics usually don't know how to fix things, only how to buy replacement parts and put them on. Buying a new replacement is their first response.

Post pics of the bowls so we can see, it always helps. (I've never seen a carb bowl with pinholes)

Pinholes are tiny so maybe you could:
1. Coat the insides with a thin layer of melted solder.
2. Rub JB Weld into the bowl and then wipe it out with a rag.

Either of these would fill pinholes and fix your bowls. Of course be mindful not to fill in the drain hole.

The fun in this, for me anyway, is finding a nice bike at a great price and then fix it's problems with what I have on hand to end up with a nice running bike and keep as much of my money in my pocket as possible.

I hope my suggestion helps.

Thanks for the sugestions. My buddy actualy specializes in older bikes so he's been around the block a time or two. He mentioned the jb weld idea too and I might try that. The inside of the carbs were just extremly corroded. I'll try to get pics of them as soon as I can. I got this bike as a basket case so I'm still trying to get it finished and on the road again. Thanks for the advice though.

If jb weld fails-

junkyards- youd be amazing at what you could find at those places!

I really want to see pics... are you sure they are "corroded", or is it just a ton of gunk? If its gunk, boil them in lemon juice, then get back to us.
