CB350 fork ques

Got a 71 CB350 basket case. Got the engine completely rebuilt. Now onto the forks. Do I have my assembly correct: on the early K model fork there is a damper rod that mounts into the bottom of the slider. That rod slips up into the fork tube. I've rebuilt plenty of forks before but never seen a set up like this. Other than the clip on top of the seal, what holds the tube and slider together? Wondering if I am missing pieces not stated in the parts list. By the way that damper rod I speak of is not in my schematics.

Sounds like you may have the later style internal spring type forks. Do your forks have the small diameter inner springs or the large diameter outer springs?

I thought the same thing but I have pistons at the bottoms of the tubes, a bunch of clips, and the external fork springs. These rods seem the only thing a little strange and mainly because I dont see them listed or photo'd in the manual.

holy cow that is exactly how i am going to do my engine!!

did you powdercoat or paint? is that gloss black or satin black?

Engine paint is the PJ1 high temp spray enamel. I think it only comes in gloss. That's what I used anyway. Engine went together in about two days. Very straight forward. Things plugged right into where they were supposed to go. Not like working on a brit bike for sure. I found a manual showing a pic of the damper I am talking about. Says "some" early CB350 forks have this rod fitted. I'll try and scan and show the pic.
