Been Around the Block
Wow, it's been two years since the last post. You know how things go, something always comes up.
Roadblocks are disappearing- graduated from college, ditched the gf and got a job with my degree that allows some building. I also finished (mostly) my other two bike projects. The downside is some medical bills have to be paid first. But anyways.
Updates:
1. Working on tracking down the previous owner on the title for the frame. I purchased the frame from a shop who did not get the title transferred. I'm not too concerned at this point, worst case I use a service that goes through Vermont. Also, the bike is titled as a 69 but the VIN indicates it's a 68. I need to get the title changed to reflect this. More on that in a moment.
2. Some of the parts I'll need have been purchased over the last couple years. The rest are in my excel spreadsheet. The cost of what I have left isn't pretty but it is what it is. The spreadsheet outlines all the parts, prices and links to the places to purchase. It's easy to modify and makes it even easier to keep track of my ideas.
3. Everything is broken down and cleaned. I'm hoping to start sending things off for powdercoat and start completing components one at a time. First up are probably the forks, then gauges, air boxes, etc. I want to get the cheaper stuff out of the way until my other expenses are paid down.
4. The frame needs some TLC and some welding... someone buggered up a footpeg mount although since I am using rearsets this might not be an issue. Another person ground off the steering stop, no idea why someone would think that's a good idea. A shock mount has the threads stripped, so I need to find a die to cut some new threads.
So, I drew up about 10 concepts and this is the one I like best. I'm looking at some 50/50 tires, nothing too knobby.
Below that is the seat that Blackbuddha1 glassed for me, along with it sitting on the frame with the tank. I really like the lines
Last pic is the reason I need the frame titled as a 68. This plate was given to me by a friend. It's the original plate from his first motorcycle in 1968. It's a pretty big deal to me so I really need to make sure this title gets sorted out and I can use the plate.
