CB350 - No power

Dragonfish

Slightly Obnoxious
I just tried to go for a ride and my bike was really weird. I rode it last weekend and it ran great. Today, it was hard to start and didn't want to run without the choke on. I took it around the block and it had no power. (no puns about it being a 350) As I was riding it would keep surging on me, then losing power again. I brought it back home and as I parked I noticed the lights on the tach were both off. That's weird because the headlamp light is always on and neutral always comes on too when I put it in neutral. I put it on the battery tender and it looks like the battery is dead. Would that cause this kind of behavior?

On another note, There is a lot of slop on my gear shifter. The sprocket where the shift arm connects wiggles around a lot. Is that okay or do I need to address that too? It seems to shift just fine.

Yes a dead battery will cause those symptoms, running one one cylinder.
