cb350 seat from a tank

Does anyone have any experience here building a cafe "hump" seat from a tank for their cb350 using the original style seat pan? I am contemplating doing it, but I was wondering if anyone had suggestions as to the best tank to use and best ways to go about it and attatch the tank to the plastic pan, etc... I think I have seen someone use plywood as a base but I am not sure I was a big fan of that.

Thanks!

That was the inspiration of course... But I was wondering if anyone had specifically done it to a 350. I haven't seen many pics of 350s w/ cafe seats.

You can use a cb350 seat pan no problem.
I found that the butt-end of the Suzuki T500 tank to have a nicer shape.

However that being said, check out Teighlors bike at http://dotheton.com/index.php?topic=323.0
He did it on his cb450 and it looks WICKED...

No problem - I was just bustin yer balls.

You could always be like me and make a 20 pound seat out of fiberglass (see "seat for my seca").
Next time I'll be trying this method.

It would be an interesting project to make a cb350 seat out of a tank and pan, and then make a "plug" for a mold that other seat could be easily duped off of. I don't see a lot of cb350 cafe stuff that is remotely bolt on without a ton of widgeting, and that kind of sucks.

Yeah i was considering making a plug for the seat I made for the seca and making a new, much lighter one out of it...

But I decided I'll just keep the heavy seat, plus noone seems to be looking for cafe parts for a seca.
