Note: I am aware of the other thread with this same topic(http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=23847.msg254118#msg254118,)
but problem’s solution isn’t clear to me, and quick reply says this “Warning: this topic has not been posted in for at least 30 days. Unless you're sure you want to reply, please consider starting a new topic.”

Im starting up work again on a demonic little F of a cb350.
My current problem/question revolves around this: the Spark advance is stuck, wont come off. It has sat a few months before the last time removed.
It seems completely welded to the cam. (yes, the advance center bolt is out.) The points/advance casing can be pulled out from the motor about a half inch, but no farther as the advance is stopping it.
The other thread linked at the top describes taping it out from the inside side of the crank case? I do not see this as a possibility.
Anyone else ever run into this problem? / clarification of the linked thread?
Thank you.

Yes, the advancer is easily corrosion welded to the camshaft end. Use a vice grip and wrap a piece of rawhide or heavy tooling leather around the advancer so the jaws don't gouge the surface. Maybe use a torch to heat it up a bit. Gently tap the vice grip with a hammer away from the camshaft. Do not try and rotate it while it's still seated or you'll damage the locating notch.

Give it a good soaking in penetrating oil. Careful with the heat because there's a rubber seal behind the advancer.

350 isn't such a big deal as you can remove the complete end cap/cam bearing from head, using it as a 'puller' on back of advancer unit.
Make sure everything is soaked for a few days first though (release oil, diesel, etc)

Damn, it's been so long, I can't remember what I did.

Pretty sure I just tapped it off from the back, w/ a punch. Mine had been stuck on there for 20 some years, w/o moving. It was so solid on there that (and having never seen one before) I though it was part of the cam.

I do remember it coming off pretty easy thought, after I knew how it was suppose to come off. Also, I didn't have to use any heat.

Oh, btw, I was working on this w/ the cam out of the engine. It sounds like you isn't. Another thing, you'll have to remove the springs and the arms to get the outer piece off separately.

I soaked mine in pb and slowly worked it out. The arms were the hardest part but eventuallt got them off. Cleaned and polished it up and slapped it bacl together. Fixed my problem
