Hey guys has anyone had the top rubber wheel on the tensioner replaced with a sprocket. I know Ohio does it but I never got an answer from them. Also Has any one used a slider tensioner upgrade$$$ Does anyone have pics of one. I'm thinking I can fabricate one. Or any other ideas anyone has used before. There has to be something out there that isnt $$$$$$.

Okay guys I know some one in here has rebuilt a cb350. I really dont want to fork out 1$140 bucks for an new tensioner. And I have a thing about order from Overseas on ebay.

sympathy post.

no seriously, i guess these guys are sick of this question, the search function on this site is the worst i've ever seen, so i can understand it gets asked alot.

i believe ohiocaferacers gets their rollers from a place in italy, i've got the link somewhere. but they're muchos dinero, the Boretech KA tensioner is cheaper. and they have pretty much the best online customer service i've ever experienced.
in saying that, i was thinking of taking a couple of photo's of the tensioner with a ruler, and posting them up, because it's pretty basic, and if you have access to the machinery and teflon plastics, it would be easy to make. i'm not really sure if that's a cool thing to do though.

Thanks for the reply and your right I should have probably used the search option before posting. I should have figured this was an old question. I contacted Ohio but they never got back with me. Is there anyone running one of theirs? I just want some opinions on the metal sprocket. I was thinking of using the starter sprocket it fits all I need to do is open up the axis for the bearing. That was option one but I'm afraid the diamiter is too small. Option two was the slider which I can make and probably improve if I had a good picture (Hint Hint). Third was to have some one who has a new one take good measurements and I could machine one from teflon ( the top wheel). The slider I believe would be the easyest. If anyone is interested in this let me know maybe we can pull knowledge, resources, and time to make something good for all of us. I can have a sprocket machined for about $70 but won't know if its perfect until its in my hand the the $70 bucks are gone. As for coping bortechs yeah I see ur point, just one question does it use the stock lower wheel? I'm gonna try and inprove/redesign the slipper.

I think a format should be used in titles of each post section. Like In here should be labeled (Motorcycye model / part in ?/comment) and be able to search the titles. For this t would be Honda cb3350 Cam Tensioner

I'm working on improving the search. Not sure why it doesn't work well on multiple terms - works ok I think on single words like 'tensioner' for example.

Thank you I have decided in all good karma not to copy the boretech tensioner. But the picture still definately helps. Here's the idea I plan to use the existing tensioner bracket, replaceing only the top wheel with a teflon slider. I plan, if it all works, to machine the teflon slider and make it available to DTT members. It will still use the lower wheel which is still available at a decent price. I have a third engine I will be rebuilding and will run the slider in it for awhile before a crank a few out.

I would be interested I guess. The top sprocket and tensioner are both worn pretty bad. So I guess Im in the market for both. The tensioner is for sale on bore-tech, but its a bit pricey. The sprocket I cant find anywhere.

Okay guys I need your help does someone have a new or near new cb350 tensioner. I need the dimesions for the top wheel. Hell can someone Loan it to me. I will machine a spare for you for free/and I will return your tensioner unharmed/ scouts honor. But the dimensions taken with a caliper would sufice.

Im really suprised that there seems to be no option but to go to the dealer for these parts. There were metal sprockets at some point, but no one seems to make/sell them anymore. Im not, and I dont think most people around here are, too fond of paying to replace an easily worn part with one that will wear out just as easily. I think this would really help a lot of cb350 owners. maybe we could see if a mod would sticky this, and maybe we should cross post it in the parts forum to get our cause some attention.

Hey was you top wheel a sprocket? If so its custom. It originaly was a rubberwheel lik the bottom one. I was planning on makin a slider much like boretechs, but its too much machining. Instead I'm gonna machine the top wheel out of teflon, and use the orginal bearig and bracket. And it will probably outlast the original. I've read from in vintage racing articles that this has been done.

I just purchased th Teflon stock to make the upper wheel. It isnt cheap and I had to buy more than I need. Im gonna post in the for sale. Hopefully I can at least cover the material and maching costs.

sorry its just a roller, not a metal sprocket. I want a metal sprocket, but I cant seem to find them for sale anymore. As for the guide piece the only alternative to stock seems to be bore-tech's. Its kinda pricey, but it looks like my only option. I do have a question about it though. I read somewhere that it doesnt just fit in? Is this right? Does the head have to be modified to fit this part?

That what I have heard to you have to grind the cylinder sleeve to make it fit/make that center slot where it sits wider. Thats another reason I'm not making it. I think that if you leave a rough spot in there the rivets will catch and stop the tensioner from doing it's job. If your willing to wait I'll hook you up with one of my teflon wheels.

I posted in the Stuff your selling area hopefully theres som interest and I wont have alot of extra teflon laying around.

ya, def send me a pm or whatever when youve got them all made up.

What do you suggest for the guide? Just order the part from honda? Do I just go to a honda dealership? As in a car dealership? Or do I go to a bike dealership that sells hondas?

First check the price at the honda dealership and availability. Also check ebay, service honda, and cmsnl.com to see if you can get it cheaper. Get the correct name from CMSNL.com on it parts fiche. I got mine for about 35.00
