cb360 Backfiring from one cylinder

Check your timing, plug gap and points gap. Have had this happen to me, and I didn't do as I was told so I was spending way too much time when it was this easily solved.

So tonight was interesting...
took the carbs off and drained the bowls. Took the left on completely apart and adjusted the float, it wasn't high enough. Cleaned it with a little carb cleaner and compressed air. Put the carbs back on and tried to fire it up. Nothing happened, turned over fine and nuetral light was on but no spark. So I thought it was asking me to go through the wiring.
wiring diagram and a couple hours later I had ohmed out a bunch of stuff and traced a lot of stuff around. Rewired my rectifier, the green wire was completely gone. Fixed my charging issue.

So tonight my whole spark issue was the kill switch by the throttle. Guess it got bumped somehow. Two hours of my life that I can't get back.

So it seems to be running better, while checking ohms I think my left coil may be a little weak. So I will replace them next week. It is backfiring on deceleration a little. If I snap the throttle back to zero myself it doesn't do it. If I rev it and let the spring return the throttle it pops on the way down.

What does it mean when gas is sitting at different hieghts in your gas lines? The left line is short and while its running only keeps gas half way up the line to the filter. The right carb is longer and has gas almost to the petcock.

Any ideas?

How did you check float level?
If you completely inverted carbs the level will be 'off'
Carbs should be tilted so float arm makes contact with shut off valve but doesn't compress spring in it

This was the first time I actually did them inverted. The spring seemed stiff enough that the floats werent depressing it. It could be off a little, Ill see if its dripping from the overflow, if so I will take them off again. PJ any chance youll have some time this weekend?
