CB360 Cafe-ish Build

I guess this will be my official intro. My first bike was a cb350 hardtailed bobber. Sold that and bought a harley ironhead. Picked up this lil cb360 to build as it'll be the first bike i ever ride. Got the donor bike for $250 w/o a title. Mostly complete but immediately gave all the parts not pictured to a buddy trying to get his cl360 on the road quick. Picked up a titled frame from another board to use as the platform. Plans call for modern front with single radial mount caliper and disc, mono shock rear, custom rear section, braced swingarm, stainless exhaust with custom muffler, custom home made adjustable rearsets, two up seat with removable hump cowl. So here's what i started with along with a 360 disc front wheel and stock rear wheel.

Taking some inspiration from cafePete and the red wonder's builds i picked up an '09 zx6r front end locally, fully adjustable in every sense complete with calipers. '04 R6 rear shock should work on the rear with new geometry. Also can get my hands on a mojave tank but am modifying a yamaha cs3 tank to work on the frame for something a lil different, also using one from a very rusted and dented tank as the rear cowl so the bodylines will match. Started off doing some mockups with the titled frame suspension and tank. (i already cut the tunnel of the tank to get it to sit lower, will mount the front higher). The rear monoshock will be mounted offset on one side and almost parallel to give the proper leverage to compensate for the much stiffer spring.

Then i started bending up some tubing for the rear section, turned down some slugs to marry the stock wall tubing to the 0.120 wall i like to use for frames an started mocking it up. Bottom braces are also bent and tacked in place. I had a buddy bend the rear loop with his very fancy and cool baleigh computerized bender so the rear is on a 3" radius and 6" between insides of the rails (i like skinny bikes)

Top tree is from an '07-08 zx6r with the fork holes bored an extra mm to compensate. apparently '09 top trees are made of unobtanium so this was a cheap alternative and works perfectly. I need to get an axle made to work with the forks and the stock cb wheel/axle the wheel is just kind of resting there.

Re: CB360 Cafe Build

Lost track of order.... anyways, started bracing the swingarm, bent two tubes to go on either side of the wheel instead of the typical "loop" style i see a lot. Just thought it would be a bit different and the chain clears good too. Also added the brace in the center in front of the tire.

This is when i got the rear loop bent for me.

All this progress allowed me to get started on tacking on the rear shock before breaking down and final welding a lot of this.

I like the looks of it and i think it'll work well. And the rear section is very sturdy, sat on it just tacked together with my full weight (a whopping 137lbs) and it felt good. Seat height is right about 30" should only sag a bit with the engine in.

Also cut up the other tank for the rear cowl, will build 2 pans, one for electronics, another for the seat and the battery will be held in a small flip down tray where the rear section bracing is.
