CB360 Cafe Project

Well this should make everybody happy, especially you Red, I decided to move my clip ons up. That's right, after running my mouth about not giving a shit, I moved them anyway. LOL, but not because of riding position, I still don't care about THAT. Haha.

Seriously though, I was having some trouble getting my clutch cable to not bind in certain bar positions. I tried different length cables, angles of levers, and positions of the head light, but just couldn't get it good enough. Now, it works perfect.

I actually like the way the front end looks now, better than I did before. Both of the clutch and brake line route much nicer, and I think it looks cleaner.

Hope everybody's happy..... ::)

Now that I'm starting to finish things up, I've been thinking about what I want to do with the paint. Honestly, I'm kinda stumped. I have a couple of ideas floatin' around, but nothing that really grabs me.

BTW, I'm looking for someone to do some graphic design. I have a couple of ideas for tank decals, but what I don't have are the skills to throw it down digitally. If you got skills, please send me pm.

Thanks.

I do agree, it looks much better! What kind of a stance does it have with the rear wheel on the ground. With it on the stand the top frame frail looks horizontal....so when the rear wheel drops, will it be sloping down? Looks great though! I need to start working on my bike again!!!

It's hard to tell in the pix, but on the stand, it is angled forward. When I drop it down, it sits pretty much level. I do plan on adding maybe an inch to the rear height, by replacing the shocks. I would like it to sit just a tad higher than the front, to steer a little quicker.

And, yeah, you're right, you should get workin' on yours. That thing is sick.

Love the style of this bike. tail light, cool. tail section, cool. pipes, clip-ons, seat. cool, cool, cool. props to you on a cool build.

hey dude. i've already commented on this, but something about your bike does it for me.
definately one of the most 'complete' looking bikes on the forum in my opinion. nothings out of place...everything looks like it was meant to be designed that way. just superb.

flick me a pm with a sketch/pics of what you have in mind. i might be able to help you out.

i posted up a doodle before that i did out of boredom on another forum and some bird liked it so much she asked i could help her draw proper so she could get it stickered onto her bike :)

Nice. I have a sketch of what I'm looking for, I'll scan it send it over. Maybe you can do something with it. Thanks for the compliments.

I'm going to use this post to record some observations I've made and surely will make over the course of this build. Being my first project of this involvement, I want don't want to forget things I've learned. I really just need a safe place to store some notes.

Observations:

1) Brake Linkage: I don't like the 'z' shape crossing over the swing arm. I can see and feel the flex when the brakes are applied. Bad design.

So, I've been toying with the idea of a tracker style bike. Actually more like a conversion, that I could swap out in an hour or so. I picked up some bars and clamps and pretty much used the rest of the stock controls. Surprisingly the clutch and throttle cable still worked. The brake line was short, but trackers don't run front brakes anyway, right?

Well, once I got it set up it was far from tracker'esque. The cb360 was never really used for a dirt/flat tracker anyway. So, I dropped the forks and shox as low as I could, maybe going for something a little more bobber'ish and below is what I got.

Not in love with it. I took it for a spin around the neighborhood, brake-less, and it was obviously more comfortable to ride.

Let me know what you guys think? Oh wait, I forgot I live in Kentucky now.....Whatch ya'all think?

Not to distract anyone from the question at hand (see above post), b/c I am hoping for some feedback,

but I did add another bike to the Lower Level Shop. Hey, I even got permission from upper management!

Just gonna be doin some clean-up on this one. It's a '73 Kawi G5. The first bike I ever owned and the first bike I ever rode. I pushed my parents mower all over town to buy this bike when I was 11. I've had a million bikes since then, but this one has always hung around. So, I like to leave it alone. No major mods, just good running order. I rebuilt the top end last year. Now after lending it to a bunch of women in my friends HOG chapter, as a learner bike, it needs a new clutch. Should've seen that one coming. No worries though, it is a great learner and my bike enjoy's being a part of people learning to ride.

Other than the clutch, I think I might take some time to clean and paint the engine and pipe. I want to clean up the electrical, just strip it back to basics, leaving the HL and TL w/ brake lights. Although I have a little research to do, b/c it is a 6v system w/ a lighting coil. A little different than the CB's. One of the families I lent it to already put some new MX bars on it, after it took some diggers.

With stock footrests it looks better as a tracker, tail end still needs 'something' though, finishes too early

Thanks for the input. I do want to add some sort of splash guard, but I think the tail will stay. I think I read in one of your posts your opinion on short tail sections and where the tail should end on relation the rear wheel. That's one thing that I am sacrificing function for form . I like the short tail styling. The only acceptable alternative, for me, would be a long flat seat.

Oh, I also had a buddy of mine create some tank graphics. I don't think I will 'disclose' them until they are actually on the tank. I wll say that they BLEW MY MIND! Sooooo sick! Aaaannnd the cliffhanger.....

Nothing wrong with seat/tail combo, just needs 'something' extra?
bike isn't 'balanced as is, 3"~4" splash guard' would probably do it

Yep, I've got an opinion and aint afraid to use it ;D
