CB360 Fork Spring Replacement or Swap

Been Around the Block
Afternoon, Gents.

I believe my Cb360 front fork springs to be either A) toast B) silly putty or C) not strong enough for 230lbs. Regardless of the aforementioned choices, I would like to either swap in new springs OR swap front forks from a compatible bike. My question is, which bikes would have easily swappable forks AND that would give me a firmer ride? If none exist, what is my next best course of action?

I don't race, and I won't, but the bike as-is nose dives something fierce under hard braking. Any help would be appreciated.

You might find that if you take your forks apart and give everything a good cleaning, then put in new seals and fork oil they might be a bit stiffer for you. I'm putting forks from an '02 EX500 on my 360. Looks like it's going to be a matter of having the right bearings to get it all together. I'm having an aluminum top triple made and will be using clip ons .

Matt. I am 230 lbs and my forks are plenty stiff....too stiff....

Have you changed the oil in them...???? Manual says ATF (which is what I used)...

ATF will give a pretty stiff ride.

Also, are the o-rings in the top caps? If you have the bike on the centerstand, and remove the caps, then replace them with no weight on the front (Forks fully extended), the captured air also adds a little extra springiness.

Finally, if you are handy, you can drill and tap the fork caps, add nylon tubing to connect the 2 fork legs, and pressurize a little (1-5lbs) for extra springiness.

See my build in the beginning. I did that for 2 up riding. Helped a lot. that is why there is a pressure gauge on my handlebars.

Thanks for the reply! I'll tear into them this week and report back! I have not changed the oil in them since I've had the bike and will look into immediately doing so.
