CB360 GSXR Fork Swap

So I have kind of been thinking on the idea of swapping my 360 front forks to a gsxr or something of the type. I can find posts on swaps for others bikes, but none really concerning the 360.

My biggest concern seems to be the wheel/hub. In order to retain a spoked wheel, i would have to lace rim to a hub. The cognito moto stuff is super expensive, but makes it easy. Could I use a stock cb360 rim and lace to a hub, or would it be to thin for a gsxr fork?

Does anyone know of any posts i could check out?

I can tell you about my experience. I'm using the forks from a '02 Kawi EX500 Ninja. They aren't sexy USD forx and only have one disc rather than two, but it's a really easy swap and a move up from 33mm to 37mm fork tubes. I got the bearings for the swap from AllBalls and with those it's pretty much a drop-in with no having to mess w/ changing out the spindle, even the steering stops match right up. I'm using a custom made top triple and the Ninja wheels so my application would probably be somewhat different from yours, but at least you get the benefit of better brakes (bigger disc and two pot caliper), stouter fork tubes, plentiful parts, and they are easy to find and not expensive. I even used the Ninja front fender, but again, your application may be different. When I tore them down to put in new fork seals I put in different spacers to lower them by an inch. In my opinion they are a very viable swap for a 350 or 360.

I've never tried it. If you can pull it off they look great, that's for sure. I'd say that you probably will have more brakes than you need and if I remember correctly from reading on here it can be a bit difficult to match up axle diameters (?).

Use a 0704^ Harley rim, thats what i did. Same diameter axle as the gsxr

360 is a fairly small bike and gixxer front end is way more than it needs. A more modern front end from say an earlier CBR600 or say a 600 Bandit or Katana would add some stiffness to the front end.

CB550 forks are a straightforward swap and will give you beefier tubes...while still looking period correct.

That might be the ticket! They are longer as well, which will give me at 6' some much needed height on this bike.

LOL. I love the 750 fork swap on these. It's works well. Plus, if you get F forks, you can go dual disc. They'll stiffen it up, add length and there are performance upgrades not available for the 360 forks.

As far as the GSXR, I tend to go TL1000r, mostly because I know the swap well and it's comfortable. There variations with some of the GSXR forks, while the TL/Busa, and I want to say 1000 and 1200 are the same. I could be wrong, but it's something like that. I do the swap by making my own axle, while I run a GL1000 spoke hub with a bearing swap.

Does the 750 use the same front wheel size as the 550? I’m assuming the 750 wheel is bigger than the 360, so would that have any negative affects on suspension geometry or handling?

They're the same size. 19" x 1.85". The difference is that the 750 is 40 hole vs 36 of the Honda twins.

The old Black Bomber CB450 with drum brakes was also 40 hole. Can't tell you about a 360 though.

If it is 36, then I have a new in box 19 * 1.85 black aluminum rim that I keep meaning to sell.

Not at all. Just depends on how much you care about having a 36 or 40 spoke wheel, or if the front and back matches. Nobody is going to count spokes on your bike.
