cb360 ...here we go

Hi,

I've been disassembling my 360 over the past few weeks and I'm getting to the point where I'm going to start cleaning, painting, polishing, and ordering parts that I know I need. First I have a couple of questions... keep in mind this is my first bike.

I'll be painting the frame... and lots of other things. I will clean everything with degreaser and remove any rust / loose paint but do I need to strip all the paint to get a clean final coat?

Is the oil drain plug the large bolt on the bottom of the engine? If so... mine is seized and on the way to being stripped. Beat it into submission? Other suggestions?
One last clutch cover screw is seized as well... penetrating oil isn't cutting it. Might be able to get it with vise grips. I'll be ordering a set of stainless fasteners since the PO pretty much stripped half of them.

Anyone know a source of starter block off plugs besides PJ? I've PMed but no response.

What is the electrical component on the top end of the engine on the shifting side?

If I open up the engine, which parts (gaskets?) will I inevitable have to replace? It was running recently then I messed with the carbs... should I even bother opening it? I really just want to clean it up and paint/polish part of it... I thought it might be easier to do in pieces.

Thanks for your help.

ha! yeah i gave my oil nut the big middle finger, i ended up partially stripping it but used a file to make it somewhat better...

I used a lot of heat... and get a hammer to smack and loosen up all the rust in the threads, i used aerokroil (http://www.amazon.com/Kano-Aerokroil-Penetrating-aerosol-AEROKROIL/dp/B000F09CEA) and it worked way better than PB blaster, i can't remember if i used a wrench or a socket and breaker bar, but either way use a lot of heat and the hammer too! took me a long time, but keep at it bro

Hey I am building a cl360 and I ran into the same problem with the seized bolts. What I did on all the seized external engine bolts was drilled out the center of the bolt with a bit that is smaller than the outside diameter of the bolt. Then buy an extractor set, turn counterclockwise and it'll pop right out. Pb blaster and heat help too, but make sure if you use a butane torch there is no plastic or anything that can get destroyed by the heat.

Alright, I'll keep at the drain plug. I also used a file to shape up the head on the bolt so I can get a socket on it but the engine is free standing and I can't keep much torque on the wrench... I'll find a pipe or something to gain some leverage. I was also nervous about putting heat to the bolt because I've been spraying the engine with all sorts of cleaners and penetrating lube... didn't want any explosions in the basement.

On another note, I got the starter block off plug ordered from PJ - Thanks.

Can a decent paint job be achieved with spray paint? How resilient is it to chipping and such compared to paint from a gun?
