I know its splitting hairs but to me being a guy that messes with electronics and has a BS in computers and electronics, the CP ignition LOOKS nicer and is more compact because it uses the old mechanical advance. Pete has a great product, but it still looks like a hobby kit and has more parts to install and fiddle with.
I have read reports on many forums about both units and most report they both work fine. For some reason I like tinkering on things so points will be a part of my life until I tire of them. ;D
CP ignition does look much more finished. It's not like I absolutely need an electronic ignition, but it's kind of a want or wish and there is something in the marketplace for CB360. $200 is still fair bit of money.
The mechanical advance in my 350 works just fine, and I ended up going with a CP unit last year. I had one minor technical glitch with it but Charlie took care of the problem immediately for me. It's been running great since.
I installed a pamco and I really like it. HOWEVER the hall sensors did not have enough adjustment in them so I had to very carefully ream the holes to get them closer. Also the installation instructions were long and had too much fluff so I downloaded the whole thing and created my own installation guide. The diagram had a very confusing picture that resulted in wiring my signals backwards and not being able to run for a couple weeks while I figured out my mistake. Was very frustrating. Wanted to ditch the whole thing but glad I cooled off and revisited the problem later. Now I love it.
