cb360 Throttle Pull/Push length and a big middle finger....

Coast to Coast
Ordered new cables to rid myself of the "electrical taped death strings" that were the original cables. Slapped em in last night and the pull cable is loose by a good inch or more. So loose that it doesn't even care to begin to lay in the track. My first thought is that they are too long so I grab the old one and put it on. It was a hair shorter but I'm still coming up to long. Lots of guys are running stock cables with clubmans/clipons so I have no idea why I've got the extra length!!! Here is a pic.

Cables round the wrong way?

And are you sure that's the pull cable??

when you say "round the wrong way" are you referring to the routing or that I have the cables flip flopped?

Bringing this back to life... I'm having the exact same issue.
I've been an avid reader of this forum, but first time writing, as I've had little to contribute so far.
Acquired 74 cb360 that had some throttle issues (hanging RPMs), which turned out to be a torn rubber diaphragm in the right carb. I pulled the carbs, replaced the diaphragms & springs with new ones and put them back on the bike. Reattached the pull cable (totally fine) and reattached the push cable (tons of slack like the OP). I don't have that much mechanical experience, as this is just my 2nd vintage rebuild (1st was a 74 Kawa G3ss single cylinder 90cc 2-stroke). I can't seem to figure out why there is so much slack in the push cable. It looks exactly like the picture posted. Am I missing something? Adjusting the screws doesn't pull out all the slack and I can't find anything online, in diagrams or anywhere else that suggest a spring or something else is missing.

Please help. happy to provide more info and will be taking pictures soon, as I'm still at work.
Thank you!

Thanks, I'll probably end up doing that.
I was just curious as to why I couldn't get it to adjust/ fit properly and if anyone else has experienced this issue. I know it works without the push cable, but it was driving me nuts. One of those things that will probably keep me up at night.
