Looking at tires for my 74 CB360. Anyone have thoughts on tire widths. How wide you can fit them in there on the stock wheels? Also looking for new spokes and nippys for the original 18" 36 spoke wheels. Ive seen thenm on ebay for the later front disc 360 wheel, but not the front drum wheel that I have on the 74... Anyone gotta source? Thanks!

Re: CB360 Tires, wheels, spokes?????

Know what size the rim is? That's what is going to determine the tire width.

Normally if you take the current size and convert it to metric, an extra 10mm is about the max you can go SAFELY.

Re: CB360 Tires, wheels, spokes?????

CB360 didn't have drum front.
Must be a CJ360?
Whatever, CB350 spokes fit.
Rims are WM1 and WM2
80/90 front and a 90/90 rear is very close to stock but a 90/90 F and 100/90 rear will fit

Definatally a cb 360 with a front drum. I have two '74 CB360s and both have the front drum. I believe the 75 and 76 were all disc brake up front. Actually I knda like the retro look of the drum instead of the disc. But I hadnt thought of trying cb350 front spokes....

Rim is 36 hole 18" Ive seen others with 90/90 fronts and 100/90 rears. great.

Re: CB360 Tires, wheels, spokes?????

Okay I had to go look. In 1974 Honda had two Versions of the CB360

The CB360 is a Drum Brake
The CB360G was Disc

or that could be backwards. but both were available.

Hey here's a contact:wboonsang@yahoo.com

Tell him that I refered you, tell him your spoke lenght and he can provide some to your, AWSOME price and all chrome, Waiting for mine to come in, if you want I can send you a pic

98$US for 80 chrome spokes.

Re: CB360 Tires, wheels, spokes?????

Thats exactly what I really wanted was some chrome spokes. Send some pics when you get them, But Ill surely order some next.

Re: CB360 Tires, wheels, spokes?????

i Just found http://www.cmsnl.com has alot of reproduction kits available priced fairly reasonably, look up your bike in the fiche and there should be an alternative part around the spoke P/N's with a little picture.

Re: CB360 Tires, wheels, spokes?????

I've got 74 and 75 CB360's, all disc brake.
Never seen a CB360 with a drum so I guess I learned something 'new' about them
Just had FedEx delivery of 'new' CB350 front drum wheel, brake, axle, etc. for next project (why finish one when I can start another ;D)
Going to check out spoke link, sounds interesting, particularly if they are original style 'butted' spokes

Ive been looking at tires. And there are more options that have a 100/90 front tire and a 110/90 rear tire. Anyone gone that wide? Or is 90/90 and 100/90 pretty much the max.. Thanks

Majority are not 'motorcycle people', just got into old bikes because they are cool (at present )
Don't know or care whats right, just want 'THE LOOK' ::)
Correct size tyres will last longer and provide better handling.
Oversize tyres will wear out quicker and usually not handle as well and, make bike slower
(although if people have no clue how it should go round corners they won't have anythig to compare with)
Rims are just too narrow for wider tyres.
I may be an 'old fart' but I have worked on these things since they were new.
You can do whatever you want, fitting wider rims should be first option, then even stock tyres look wider
Fitting a stock rear rim to front will be an improvement with a 90/90 tyre, should be plenty available cheap
I've got a couple of WM2 steel rims because I fitted WM3 alloys 8) (if anyone needs them?)

I was actually leaning towards getting a set of Shouldered Aluminum Wheels from Mikes XS. Bit wider than stock for both up front and in the back. I figure Id save some weight there on the wheels, but I like some of the other tires I see out there but dont offer a rear any narrower than the 110.

You can run a "front" tire in the rear - PJ has the answer why. I'm tired and cant remember the proper explanation....

I was curious to this as well. If I used two Front Tires, I could go 90/90 up front and 100/90 out back which seems to be the popular combo on the CB360. Wondering if that was possible. Some tires even say they will work front or rear, not the ones I was looking at though.

I have the exact same tire front and rear on my 175. There's 2 things to look at: water dispersion (hence the front AND rear designation) and load put on the tire. The load on the front is left + right (turning) while the load on the rear includes torque from the motor. But like I said, wait for somebody who knows before you drop any $.

If you fit wider rims a 90/90x18 - 110/90x18 combination fits perfect (you've seen the pictures ;D)
You can run a front on rear if it has correct load rating, just have the direction arrow pointing 'backwards' as it has to take drive not braking force

and beware if it gets wet out. depending on the tire, reversing the direction will force the water to the center of the tread instead of outward.

as a side note (disregard if it's too far off topic) i just replaced my stock 120/90-16 rear on my cm400 with a 130/90-16 because it was the closest size available. i haven't ridden it yet to evaluate any handling changes, but since the rim has not changed width, it squeezes the tire and it's essentially the same looking width. the only visual change is the tire looks taller

just for the record, I have a CB360G (1974) and it does indeed have the disk. back OT, I have managed to fit 110/90 on both wheels, they fit, they work and the bike looks good!

I also have the benefit of a bike shop at my disposal and a plethora of differing opinions...

I am running 110/90-18 tires front and rear on stock rims...handling isn't great and I had to dent the fork brace outwards with a hammer do tire doesn't rub on it. Fits though but barely I'd go with 100 front

Ummm, you about 3 yrs late to the party ;)

Even a 100 is way too wide for a 1.6" rim glad you confirmed handling 'isn't great' though
90/90 on WM3 front and 110/90 on WM3 rear is great to over 115mph (although you need some motor mods for that)
