CB360 Wiring

Hey guys,

Picked up a '75 cb360 with a pretty thrashed wiring harness so I'm redoing it from scratch with an M-unit. This is my first time doing it and I've looked through the 101 thread, the simplified diagrams thread, and a lot of threads regarding wiring with M-unit here gleaning everything I could. Would appreciate some feedback on what good and whats not before I go ahead and do this since I mixed a lots of the example I looked at based on what I needed.

I've going to use a Pamco electronic advancer/ignition, kohler r/r and 12v Shorai Lithium Ion Battery.
**KICK START ONLY**

Also please excuse the strange layout haha

PS just realized my neutral idiot light is not connected anywhere, it should go to the stock wire from the alternator (pink and green i think)

The neutral safety runs down to the neutral safety switch to the left of the front sprocket. Green with red stripe. The switch grounds the wire when in neutral. It is the fourth wire on the 4 pin connector from the alternator. The original wiring also uses the clutch safety switch in that circuit and needs a diode. If you are not keeping the diode, you need to eliminate the clutch safety switch or the light will be on whenever you pull in the clutch lever.

Start output for the m-unit needs to go to the solenoid, not directly to the starter motor.

Also, don't fuse the connection from the R/R. Fuse the connection to the m-unit, instead. 15A is fine.

What are you doing for a tail light? Current diagram looks like brake only.

Finally, use one of our R/Rs instead of the Kohler. Ours is only a bit more expensive and a lot better (especially since you're using a pretty spendy battery). ;)

Sonreir,

Cool, i'll swap the fuse location, is there some reason the m-unit instructions had it between the R/R and battery though?

I don't have the start wiring connected anywhere since i was going to do kick only. Does it still need to be hooked up somewhere?

I also have the tail light set up per the m-unit instructions. They had a 'one wire set up' for brake and tail light via the programming in the m-unit.

Ill look into Sparck R/R!

Anything else you can spot? Do i need fuses before the coils? I saw that in a few diagrams on here somewhere

It's OK to have a fuse going from the R/R to the battery, but the main fuse should sit between the battery and the rest of the wiring. Basically, if you're only using one fuse, it should be the connection from the R/R that runs directly (unfused). Otherwise, if you blow the fuse coming from the R/R, it doesn't protect your wiring from the current still coming from the battery (which is capable of a lot more current than the R/R anyway).

Adding more fuses complicates the wiring, but does allow you to more easily isolate any issues. If using multiple fuses in a series circuit, ensure all the fuses are smaller in current than the preceding fuse. So if you have 15A for the main fuse, the fuse for the coils should be 10A or 7.5A.
