CB360T wiring

I have a 1975 cb360t, I was wondering if anyone knows that the white wire going into my stator is supposed to be hot? I got the bike and it has been rewired to a toggle switch instead of the key. I tried to power up the white wire and when I did the bike wouldn't shut off. Should this wire only be hot when starting? Thank you!

it will/should be "hot" when the bike is in the "on" position

what do you mean you "tried to power up the white wire"?

The white wire is an input going to your stator. It's commonly spliced with one of the yellow output wires in order to generate additional voltage. Normally, the white wire should only be hot when the high beams are switched on.

What I ment about powering up the white wire is that I hooked it up to the battery. With the other answer I'll check it out with the high beams on. Thanks!
I aslo have another issue when I turn on the high beams the turn signals go out. Could that be from a bad ground?

White live to battery is Kawasaki colour, you have a HONDA
White is OUTPUT FROM alternator.
White should NEVER be 'HOT' unless engine is running and producing AC voltage.
You have probably fried stator coils connecting it directly to battery and probably damaged battery by feeding it AC voltage
