CB450 2 into 1 exhaust - what are my options? Anybody have one on their bike?

Been Around the Block
I've been looking all over for a 2 into 1 exhaust for my '74 CB450 - I found this one for the early 80's CB450's but I expect it probably won't fit mine (or would it? Anybody try it?)

There's a couple custom header places way the hell down in Auburn that have said they can make a 2 into 1, but it would be pretty expensive. I'd much rather find one purpose built and stick my own muffler on it...

Anybody got any ideas? I've been watching eBay when I remember to think of it, but haven't found anything...

Mac makes one but it's only ok unless you're just going for looks and sound.
It's not that hard to do your own exhaust even if you don't weld, there's usually a muffler shop in most towns and you can pay them to weld it up once you get your pipes laid out. Use your existing pipes at the head, just cut'm off with enough room to weld to so you get that little lip at the end. Mark each piece exactly how it's supposed to fit together and you should be golden. Doing it this way will ensure you you can have a decent merge at the collector rather than a couple pipes jammed into a larger one and cobbled together with a weld that looks like chewed gum. Just make sure that the merge is really gradual, keep the primaries the same length and you should be fine.

Simple huh? hehe

I saw an add in a mag that said these guys stock a 2-1 system for the 450 but I didn't see it on their site. You might drop them a line to see what's up.
