cb450 fork springs

Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to find progressive (or improved) fork springs for standard 1971 cb450 forks.
I've had a look a look at Hagon and other spring suppliers and the Cb450 seems to be one of the models that they don't cater for.
Are there springs for other models that will work
Any help would be appreciated
Andy

check mikesxs... a while back i realized that the springs out of a certain xs will work.

Any more information on this? Which of the XS progressive springs will work on a CB 450?

Mikes XS only does XS650 parts.
They come in 34mm and 35mm, if you have 35mm forks, it aint rocket science ;)

What about the length? Are they the same?

Edit: they have the size listed. Anybody know the CB450 size?
XS = 24mm. Dia. x 484mm

Found these on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Progressive-Fork-Springs-HONDA-CB-450-K-72-/400176287589?pt=Motorrad_Kraftradteile&hash=item5d2c5d8f65#ht_771wt_905

Anybody tried them? First progressive springs that I have seen sold to the CB 450.

Jack up front of bike and pull a fork nut.
You can then measure spring length.
If you have a service manual, you can look it up as there will be a spec for stock length and minimum length

That seems a little pricey for the springs, including the shipping.

PJ, I wish I had done the measuring before I put the forks back together and put the oil in it :-\. I guess no one has any numbers just laying around. I might end up doing that one day when I feel like I need to upgrade the forks.

OK, I dug out my old Haynes manual for 450/500.
If you have springs on outside of fork tube, 211.8mm, service limit 205mm
Internal springs, (500T) 440mm, didn't look for service limit, it's buried in the text somewhere.
If you have 450 with alloy sliders and internal springs, they should be the same as 500T

Thanks for that info. They seem to be 44mm shorter than the XS650. I wonder if cutting them will affect the performance.

Makes spring stiffer.
I would do it and cut the 'closed' coils off so it will have less effect overall but the 'soft' section of spring will be gone.
