Hello everyone!

Building a set of wheels for a track day 350, got the rims, got the hubs, have some spokes have some questions

Stock spokes should work for the rear rim correct? maybe Ill need spoke washers? I could buy a chromed spoke kit for about 45$ on ebay for this one.

For the front wheel, stock 450 rims are 19, im doing 18, so I'll need to measure / contact buchanans for spoke length, but I would rather not have to buy from them as they are pricey

Wich brings me to

Is there an advantage of stainless over chrome spokes / factory spokes aside from finish qualities? Hardness is an obvious advantage but that's mostly a quality thats nice when you are building them? I dont really care about aesthetics, I just want to know if I can get away with cheap spokes

And, Does anyone know off hand / have a reference for the lengths I need to lace a 450 hub to a 18" WM3?

- Ian.

Stainless doesn't rust

Stock spokes new from the dealer are about 3.70 each. 36 x 3.70 =$133

A set of 36 unpolished ss spokes for my cb360 cost $113 from Buchanan's.

The cheap Taiwan spokes look like a lighter gauge. I would stick to Buchanan's. they will also help you pick the right length. Kenny B there is a old bike hobbyist too, and will be able to help you

I bought a set of CB350 spokes from Honda for around $35.

We're they actual genuine Honda spokes ? That price is inline with the ones from Malaysia. Those are often thinner gauge and not swaged. Did that include the spoke nipples?

I just replaced front and rear. That price is fantastic. If they are genuine Honda I am jealous. That was a steal.

Yes, I ordered them from a Honda dealership. Used the OEM parts fiche numbers. I was going to go for my usual stainless but the relatively low price was a pleasant surprise and they came with nipples but can't remember if they were swaged or butted.

I just went ahead and ordered a set of spokes of the proper length from dime city, stainless with all the hardware.. not going to skimp on these guys as I want to keep them for a long while so.. why flake out on the lacing.

Ill post pictures when I start a build log for my race bike
