Ok so I'm having an electrical problem on my cb450...
So where is supposed to lead the black cable from my battery?
And the green cable from the wire harness?
Can I connect the green cable to the battery directly?
Where is the ground point from battery to the frame to provide a ground to the whole frame?
the lead from the battery can be connected anywhere but from the factory i believe it is bolted to the rear engine mount. the green wire you speak of should run up to the headlight bucket and provide ground for a few different things up there.
No there is no problem with connecting the negative cable to the rectifier mounting bolt. But the rectifier is mounted to the battery box which is mounted to the frame. It's always best to mount directly to the frame.
Ok let me clarify that a little... right now, the only thing that is connected to my ground on my battery is the green cable...
The rectifire is ground on the frame and lights are working. Do you have a picture of where the battery should ground the frame?
I'm having a weak spark and some starting problems. Can it be cause by the frame only being ground up by the rectifire?
The thick black cable grounds to the vertical frame post directly infront of the rear tire. This is how the factory set up is. In bolts on from the left side of the bike, there should be a hole there.

I would Definitely Run a Thick black wire from your Negative Battery Post to the Rear engine mount that way your frame is completely grounded. From what it sounds your setup could possibly work but I would not recommend it. I will post a pic of where to put the cable.
