CB500T ignition timing wierdness

I fitted my CB500t with a Dynatek electronic ignition when I got it. I have just recently gotten the bike together and am in the process of trying to tune it up for the summer. At first the bike was running great, no hesitation at all. I decided to try and fine tune the timing with a strobe light and began to see problems. My right cylinder was bogging down a bit, so I tried playing with the timing some more which just made things worse. I am now at the point where the cylinder is completely useless at anything but idle no matter where I time it.

The weirdness is that the light would occasionally flash at the normal spot showing spot on timing, but most of the time now it flashes way retarded. It is so far out I can't get the light back on the arrow without some significant changes in the position of the timing pickup at the cam. I have checked the timing with a volt meter and watching the plug spark pulled out, while turning the motor over by hand the bike fires at the arrow almost every time. I did see it fire at the weird spot once or twice though, but nowhere as consistent as when it's running.

What could be causing the coil to spark at a severely retarded position like this? The advance unit appears to be working freely the way it is supposed to. I think I'm going to try swapping coils next to see if the coil may be going bad?

OK I was messing around with my volt meter and think I'm on to something. The low voltage side of the coil is at 1V normally and hits just under 12V when the magnet passes by the ignition sensors. If I watch the flywheel and the voltage on the coil it drops back down to 1V almost right where I'm seeing my retarded spark.

Is it possible the coil is going to shit and not recovering from it double firing? From what I understand the coil could be firing as it goes high to low instead of low to high.

Does anyone have a set of ignition points lying around for a CB450/500T? I am about ready to give up on this electric ignition but I no longer have the stock bits it replaced. I need the plate, points, cam shaft thing, and condensers.
