Thats awesome news Josh, congrats on finaly getting that girl on the road, she deserves to be in the wind! Great job man!

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD!velocemeccanica-project 2-"The Repsol"*UNVAILED*

Thanks Brandon! Means a lot coming from you homie.
I was sooooooo ridiculously happy to ride it you wouldn't imagine.
Only bummer is that oil that spit out but I'm not jumping to conclusions just yet as I think it might have been overfilled with too much oil. Lets hope it stops. But regardless I'm crazy happy to have gotten it on the road today.
Will post a video of it revving in the shop. Sounds awesome!!

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD!velocemeccanica-project 2-"The Repsol"*Video up!

man looks great and sounds great! nice work bud! i am a huge fan of that seat and tank combo

Freaking awesome - I really like this bike - when you get a chance, take some nice pics with a good camera and post em up!
just a reminder - oil fill level should be checked with the dipstick cap sitting on top of the threads, not screwed all the way in.

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD!velocemeccanica-project 2-"The Repsol"*Video up!

Nice job! Told you you'd be done first...it's just sad that it came out so homely............ ;D

Really, that's a gorgeous bike!

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD!velocemeccanica-project 2-"The Repsol"*Video up!

Haha thanks man I'm sure urs is gonna kick ass to though!
Can't wait!

On another note, regarding the oil out the breather issue, I checked the oil level and it was above the second line so I drained to in between both lines and routed my breather differently l, took it out for a quik spin got it up to 40mph and came home, so far no oil spilling, hopefully that does the trick, the bike was on longer yesterday though but I'm hoping this does the trick.

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD!velocemeccanica-project 2-"The Repsol"*Video up!

Sounds great Josh! I had to wait all night since I couldn't watch the video on my phone - well worth it!

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD!velocemeccanica-project 2-"The Repsol"*Video up!

haha thanks dude, glad you dig it ;D

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD!velocemeccanica-project 2-"The Repsol"*Video up!

Well oil spit out again. Bummer. Especialy cuz it's finely done.
Oil level is good, which mean either needs rings (although I'm not seeing any smoke in the exhaust from oil getting burned) or valve work done. Your input is welcome on the matter ...... Bummer :(

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD!velocemeccanica-project 2-"The Repsol"*Video up!

How do you know it spit oil again? Is it oily plugs?

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD!velocemeccanica-project 2-"The Repsol"*Video up!

Through the breather comin from my valve cover.

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD!velocemeccanica-project 2-"The Repsol"*Video up!

Ah, ok. There was a good thead dealing with this....maybe it was Tim's XS650?

Unless it's a LOT of oil coming out, i wouldn't worry anbout it. Freshly rebuilt motors tend to get oil in different places(assembly and flipping the motor around). Put a couple hundred miles on it and just keep an eye out for bigger leaks - the excess stuff should burn out.

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD!velocemeccanica-project 2-"The Repsol"*Video up!

Well the thing is, it's enough oil leaking out to get on my rear tire, it flows out for a bit after I stop the bike.
You think maybe I should run a catch can, run the bike for a while and just keep an eye on the oil level? I'd hate to hurt the engine though.

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD!velocemeccanica-project 2-"The Repsol"*Video up!

That's what i would do if there's that much coming out - put in a catch can. But feel free to wait for somebody else to reply though.

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD!velocemeccanica-project 2-"The Repsol"*Video up!

hi nice job,
the catch can will keep you from getting oil all over but there is something wrong as those engines do not pump or create much pressure even at high revs.you need to do a differential pressure ck to verify/isolate bad rings/bore etc....bad valves/ guides will not cause high breather pressure or oil/smoke coming out you vent....make sure you have the rocker cover baffles in place and installed correctly plus that there is no blockage for oil drainback ... and last, make sure your not leaking from somewhere else-like c/shaft,pushrod,shift, seals etc... for mods/ parts team hansen is the place to go for 450 based engines, i do not think anyone else builds them like they do....joe@vcycle

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD!velocemeccanica-project 2-"The Repsol"*Video up!

hey josh bike looks great. Some of that excess oil is because you are running a short exhaust and pods. I have read somewhere on the KZR forum that, that combo creates excess crankcase pressure.I am not familiar with the honda breather system but I would do something to redirect the oil away from your tire. a catch can would work or running a hose from the breather up higher than the breather cover then down and away from the tire. in the KZ's the breather is lower on the engine. Also verify that you have the correct oil level. looks and sounds good.

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD!velocemeccanica-project 2-"The Repsol"*Video up!

I was just thinking - make sure you have the baffle in place behind the valve cover. There should be a stamped steel plate that fits between the valve cover and the head. The one in the pic below doesn't have holes in it - its not the correct part - but its a reference.
The correct plate (with holes in it) will help separate the oil and air to let the crankcase breathe. Otherwise the oil comes right off the valvetrain right into the vent hose. You might check that yours is properly installed..... ???

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD!velocemeccanica-project 2-"The Repsol"*Video up!

seems some guys do not read very well...ha ha
remember the 500t has fwd and aft vents with a interconnecting hose vs single vent on the aft side for the 450's
i do not agree that pods and exhaust mods cause higher breather pressure that you are experiencing....
a increase in h/p can but negligible usually...change in stroke/ bore, rpm, or worn rings/bore or the obvious like excessive oil will..........................joe

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD!velocemeccanica-project 2-"The Repsol"*Video up!

this bike is awesome. props to you,
