To my knowledge, all metric bikes are 2240:60

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD!

BigR is on point with that answer! Everytime someone asks, hes right here! ha ha ha

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD!

hes a genious, is there a question he cant answer? i think not :p

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD!

alright, so heres a few updates,
dont remember if i mentioned, but the engine is back in and i did some extra buffing with my rotary tool to the non painted areas.
i also polished all the crud outta the forks and now theyre nice and shiny and i went ahead and put some fresh oil in too.
other things done:
installed the swingarm
painted the top clamps, cleaned up the stem and steer tube, re-greased and reasembled.
installed forks.
cleaned caliper and painted.
built an aluminum electronics tray for under the seat
built a battery box.
reattached wiring
put the clip ons back on as some of the elec. are attached.

im sure theres stuff im forgetting to list....

overall its been a busy busy few days doing as much as i can whenever i can. im having second thoughts about stretching the tank as i think as is with the seat cowl im getting it will look really good, specialy with the shorter frame, itl look nice and sporty, then the extended swingarm will give it a nice wheelbase to get everthing nice and in porportion. anyway ill get some pix up soon, and also some pix when i mock up the tank and seat in a few days.

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD! opinion time!

ok, so im cought between a few seat/cowls i like and cant make up my mind.
heres one from carpy
one from roccity
and one frome airtech.

the one from carpy is almost exactly like wrenchmonkees which is the look i was going for with my bike.

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD! opinion time!

I have to say carpy's, but shorten it a bit and you may be able to trim that angle up out of the bottom to better match your inspiration bike.

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD! opinion time!

trim the seat area right?

the angle shouldnt be to hard to do and i think itl look sweet

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD! opinion time!

Yeah, shorten it in the seat and then trim the bottom off the tail to create the angle, you will have to think of where to mount brake and signals if you plan on running them.

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD! opinion time!

Well, I gotta say, I am not sure I like any of them...

When looking at the Club Balck rd400, I think what gives it the "look" is the flat topped tail, with an upward sloping underside... this gives it that real race look. It also follows the lines of the tank well with squared off edges.

The first seat from Carpy is nice, but it slopes down to the back end, which gives a totally different look. But it does match the stock tank well, I just think it will be much different than the WM bike.

Have you thought about making your own? I think you could shape a sick tail yourself, and then it would be yours! Just a thought...

+1, I still think this is the best way!

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD! opinion time!

il definately trim quite a bit off the seat area.
well the seat has a premade tail light whole in the back. but i can easily slap some fiber on and cover it up.
i can just run a side mount stop light by my plate, im goin with no signals to keep it clean and sleek.

i started shaping one outta aluminum, similar to the wm tail as its a fairly simple concept, and similar to the last tail i made, but idk ive been curious to try a fiber tail, but then again i guess it would be more rewarding to beat the crap outta some metal and then at the end say i made it my self..
heres a pic of what i made last night.
a little more trimming and i think it can look cool, and i can mount the tail light like i did on my last build

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD! opinion time!

I do think the carpy seat will flow well with your tankk that is in the pic above, and you can make a "similar" look to your inspiration bike by making the mods to the carpy one, but as far as the light hole in it, you will most likely cut that part off, then have to make an untertail kit of some sort to clean it up. So building your own two part FG tail may be the best option because then you can style it to match your tank just right and have a nice undertail!

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD! opinion time!

I also agree that making a tail will be the best fit, so going off of that what do you suggest for the tail I've made so far?

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD! opinion time!

In my opinion the seat should match the tank! since you have a round tank go for a round seat. if you want a square seat then find a square tank.

Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD! opinion time!

It needs more trimming on the bottom... I say go get yourself some florist foam, or start your mockup with cereal boxes or some soda cases... The cardboard is easy to get a general shap done out and see if you like it... Then shape some foam and get to glassin!
