CB550 won't fire

Hi guys,

I'm a nerd when it comes down to electronics, just not my thing.

So... the bike went perfectly, put on some clip-ons (so had to disconnect all the cables), but now won't start.

I've put wire to wire (color to color as it should), but got the following remaining wires

Out of the wire loom:

1 x black/white

Out of the right half (where starter button is etc):

Got 3 black ones ...

Out of the left half (where winker indication is etc):
1 black one

Can someone tell me which one I need to hook up with which one? I'm a nerd with wiring diagrams...

Thx!
Elias

White/black from the harness needs to go to the white/black coming from the kill switch. That will get spark to the coils so long as the black from the kill switch is also connected to a black in the harness.

Any black wires you have left over definitely need to be capped and tied off of you'll blow fuses.

Hi

Thanks for above

So Black from the harness to a Black from
The kill switch? Can I take any of those 3 Black cables?

What about the Black White from
The harness. I have no other Black/white left , to Connect to?

All three blacks in the harness should have power, but you can verify with a multimeter to be sure.

The black/white from the harness is what goes to the coils. There should also be a black/white on the kill switch on the right hand control assembly.

Hi,

I've Connected a Black (tried ALL 3) from the right to the Black from
The harness.

I have Connected the blackwhite from
The harnass to the Black White from the kill switch

But still got the black white left, coming from the coil ... what about this one?

Pls advise, thx!

The black/white wire going to the coils should have a double female connector that allows both sets of coils to be plugged into it.

Thank you so far,

These 2 are plugged in. However GOT the Black white still remaining.

See pictures above.

I don't understand. There is a black/white going to each coil, which is the same black white that runs through the harness to the kill switch. The kill switch has a black/white which connects to the black/white in the harness. Where is the extra black/white coming from?

Hi señor,

Yes correct. 2 coils go in a female plug. heck.

Kill switch black & white is connected to the black/white from the harness (200% sure)

The extra black/white seems to be coming from the coil.

SEe picture:

Female plug, 2 wires, check:

1 remaining wire... seems to be coming out of harness:

Seems like someone has changed something. It might be time to break out the multimeter and start tracing the wires to see where they actually go.

Hi,

We've checked with the multimeter. Seemed the red/green in the headlight was disconnected (coming from the starter relais).

Thank you again for all your help.

On to the next problem ;)
