cb550K Carbs

locOleoN

Is that the best you got? OK.. now my TURN...
I was wondering if anyone is interested...
I have a set of cb550K carbs that I've just tore down and will be putting in a chemical tumbler to have professionally cleaned out.

I'll be putting new gas lines between cabs 1&2 and between 3&4.

I plan to put new gaskets and seals w. new jets and needles and it will bench synced...
It will also be pressure tested and ready to be slapped on. Basically it will be better than new.

**..OR..**

I could have the carbs professinally cleaned and you reassemble for trade or some cashola..

If there is any interest, send me a PM

Here are the pics of the carbs before:

These were dissasmbeled and and tossed into a chemical tumbler for 1 hr.
Apprently, they these carbs were painted silver by the previous owner.
Most of the silver paint came off, and all the varnish in the bowls, and grease/sludge is all gone.

All the springs have been oiled and the sliders & choke move very smoothly
All the jets were blown out with an air gun, and the float valves are still perfectly good.

Here pics afterwards:

The only thing it needs is 4 float bowl gaskets & 4 top gaskets...

What year carbs are those I have a 78 550. Which i was told the needles are not removable. Will
this affect any future add ons like removing airbox and going from 4 to 4 to 4 to 1 or 4 to 2?

I"ll be honest with you, I have no idea what year they are from.
They are EXACTLY like my 75 cb550F. They are jetted at 100 main jets & I believe 80 slow jets...( I cant remember.. I can pull them off again and check for you if you want.)
They seem to look exactly like Rudeboy's 78 cb550K carbs as well.
I didn't take off the needles or attemp to do so.

In terms of jetting for different exhaust or intake set ups, absolutely!!... As you can see from the pics, I pulled out all the jets as and all the float valves as well. So you can change them in less than 5 mins...

However, depending on your set up you might have to put different size jets on them...

74 -76 carbs are not the same as 77-78 550 carbs in all sorts of ways due to emision laws and also a differant fit up

NOw thats very interesting...
I had no idea that there are different carbs for teh different years, (although Im not surprised).
Is there a way to tell, (ie markings, numbers, etc..etc...) what year carbs go with which year bikes? or are the difference only internal?

These carbs that I have look identical to the ones on my 75 cb550F

So what are you wanting to get for the carbs?

How about trade for a rearsets from a R1 or R6?

I just put in new socket cap screws for the float bowls & top cap. I also just put in 4 new o-rings for the carbs drain screw..

Unfortunately, i do not own a set of r6 rear sets, i do however have a set of gsxr rear sets, but they are not perfect. One of the pegs has some rash. i can send you some pics of those, or we can talk cash.
