CB650 all turn signals flashing at once

Been Around the Block
Hi,

I'm kind of new here. I put new turn signals (front and rear) on my 1981 CB650 and dealt with the load resistance issue that is inherent with LED lights, so now I have all 4 signals flashing correctly, but the problem is that they all flash at once. I've tried disconnecting the front or the rear signals, and the problem persists. Any ideas about why this might be happening?

Is most vintage Hondas, the polarity of the signal switches depending on if you signal right or left. This happens by design and allows the indicator light on the dash to function. Pull the indicator light to prevent the crossover or ground the indicator light directly after hooking up diodes to both the light ble and orange wires (those two wires together, after the diodes, will act as the +12V to the indicator light).

If that didn't make sense, let me know and I can post up a diagram.

Your fronts signals are signal/running combo leds? You should have 3 wires if so. If you've got them connected into the running lights wiring on the harness then that could happen. If it's two wires on your signals, don't working about the runing lights.
By running lights, I mean the front turn signals had 3 wires. So they were always on, except when you but the turn signal on, then they would blink.
Cb650 wiring diagrams spanned a few years. Here's a link for a 1979 but this harness for lighting was similar for a couple of years.

Need more info? here's the manual for 1979. This engine is the same for all sohc cb650s

Sonreir,

Thanks a bunch. That makes sense, so I'll give it a shot in the morning and I'll let you know how it goes.

I had assumed the electric current was crossing over somewhere, but the indicator light hadn't even crossed my mind. Thanks again. I'm hoping that fixes the problem.

I tried this solution and it worked like a charm. Thanks again for your help!
