cb750 bottom end difference?

Hi all. I butchered the top case of my '78 cb750f trying to get the studs out and am wondering if I can just swap out the cases from a different model year? I know the top end has some changes from earlier models. Should i swap out both cases or just the top? Thanks!

Cases should generally be used as a set, especially on complex motors like the CB750. The seal bores and main bores are very unlikely to match up on mismatched cases.
