Here's a link to progress of the build: http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=42331.0 I got the seat pan from Sean over at Roc City Cafe. I did the foam (used gardener kneel pads from the Meijer lawn and garden section) The seat is firm but very comfy. I used Marine grade vinyl all around and used the seat strap from my stock seat. I think it adds a nice touch.

Here's the before picture when I got the bike last fall:

The exhaust is a Mac header with an exhaust mini muffler I made myself. Thanks to this site for the help with the baffle. I promise to post a video of the bike running very soon. The exhaust tip is from Meijers...I seem to find a lot of my materials there. :D

My crankcase breather filter. I found this cool filter at Autozone. I ground the rubber connection on the backside enough to fit the crankcase breather tube over. The bracket is from my centerstand Im not using.

very nice, thats a slick lookin bike! just noticed in the last kit your engine case bolts. rest of the bike looks real real clean, you gonna replace the stock case bolts with allen/hex bolts?

Eventually, yep.

Very slick bike man, not bad at all! I like the engine black-out as well, definitely looks the goods. Bet its loud as hell with that tiny muffler setup haha.

Any plans for performance mods or anything?

I put in new rings over the winter, so that's about it for the engine. Also put a 17 tooth front sprocket for a littler quicker off the line speed.

I built and installed a baffle into the mini muffler. Sounds nice. I would say it's about the same loudness as a Harley. Nothing over the top.

Here's the baffle.

Started with this (inside of the exhaust tip (mini muffler):

Found this exhaust pipe connector and cut it down to fit inside the muffler and so the muffler will fit snug over the exhaust pipe.

Baffle time. I used a headlight ear from a 1972 CB350. Drilled random holes in it. The more holes, the quieter the muffler will be. I jb welded a soup can bottom to the end of it. This will keep the packing inside the muffler.

To secure the baffle to the inside of the muffler, I used self tapping screws through the end of the muffler and into the soup can part. I packed the outside of the baffle with steel wool and used another soup can bottom to seal up the other end of the baffle.

This was just an experiment and I cant believe it turned out so well. It's definitely here to stay. I'll never put the Mac muffler back on!

I'll post a video clip of the bike running as soon as my computer is up and running.

Very nice! I'm also trying to do some kind of exhaust can elimination from my Kerker exhaust. I've got a resonated tip on order, so we'll see how that sounds when it gets here. But for the most part, you engine is pretty much set up the same as mine. How'd you set your jetting up? How's it running with the jets set up the way you have them?

I actually went back to the stock air box and jetting for a few days 'cause I was tired of messing with the carbs. But that air box really takes the "racer" look away from my cafe bike.

Thanks for the compliments.

I took a full afternoon last year and dialed in the carbs. Here's what worked well for me, and my spark plug readings have all been a nice light tan color.

Emgo pods - I dont oil them
130 main jet
needle 4.5 slot on the richest setting. I shimmed with a washer to go a half slot. Im anal, but the bike had a light surge on the 4th slot, so I raise the needle up another half.
Fuel screw - Just over 1 1/2 turns, but not quite 1 3/4 turns
Mac 4-1 exhaust, with a free flowing baffle

I just finished getting a video clip of the bike running with the homemade baffle. Right now, it's just hanging. I will soon put a support on it. But it's pretty solid right now without it.

man i love that home made baffle!

will have to try to make my own now too ;D ;D

That sounds really nice, I expected far more noise than that. How is it under load?

If I may, please reconsider oiling your pods......just a thought.

I'll definitely consider it.

Under load, it sounds even better. Like a gorilla being torn in half. Seriously.

I was following it on SOHC4.net Looks good . Kept it clean , simple and basic but added some personal touches . I like it .

That bike has got to be one of the simplest (not too much, not too little) cleanest, baddest looking machine I've seen in a while. That is right where I would stop and enjoy the ride. Very good work. 2 thumbs up as well. :)

Check out his link to the SOHC4 forum - he's done some fine engraving work on the rear brake plate and other areas of the bike - looks great!
