well... here we go with another one... but this time... we are going to go WILD... This bike is Tim's he is here in the shop with us. Prob the most gifted metal worker i have ever met in my life and has a habit of putting a turbo on everyting he builds... no joke form snowmobiles to cars, and everything he has is fast!!! over the past few months in the shop with all the bike builds he go bit by the bike bug... so we are going to go all out on it and build him a wild bike... with his mad metal skills it will open up some insane doors for us to really pop a sick bike out!
so here is where we are... it is a 1978 CB750K... he hit bike builder gold when he found this bike as a unfinishe project!
plans for the build:
CBR1000 front end
CBR1000 wheels
duel Nissin calipers and rotors
Nissin master
progressive rear suspension
4 in stretch to stock swing arm and modded to accomidate the 180 rear tire
nissin caliper and wave rotor on back
custom stainless exhaust piping
Garrett GT17 Turbo
44 MM Mikiuni carb
in tank oil...
and a ton more wiht a crap ton of powder

the heads on the bike have already been done so the bike will get a 836 bore kit and the trans will be undercut to handle the power... should be a great build... every part will be powder coated of course and that includes all the engine cases... which have been gutted at this point for powder
we will have all hands on deck on this one, Tim, Sean, and myself... i am sure my brother will toss in some help as well as we go to build a wild CB750!
here are some pics

I am finishing up another project right now but as soon as that is done this month we will be full go on this sucker. As you can tell i am PUMPED for this build!!!

Friday we will get the seat welded up and fabricated... so the frame hoop can be done also get the rear sets brackets made and welded in place... start building a sick bike... going to try and use ALL metal no body work on this one so that we can powder coat the whole thing from top to bottom (like we did on my harley) should be trick... still playing with some color samples but thinking candy red, white, and some type of silver... still in the works

yes sir draw though for sure... really be cleanest and best way to run a turbo on a bike where space is a factor... plus it has to look as good as it performs

I bought a CB750F a few years back that had an ATP turbo kit on it, with a single carb. The bike also had an electric fuel pump on it.

Clearly your friend knows what he's doing with turbo chargers though - I'm sure he's sorted out the fuel supply needs :) Gonna be thirsty!

hahaha it is going to take some banging our heads against the wall i am sure... but should be fun... we always work together in the shop but this will be the first time we have all really sunk our teeth into the same project together from start to finish... with the exception of my race sled that we built this winter... very pumped for it... tim did you have the bore kit in your 750 or did you have a stock top end? i know the crank and cam chain will def need upgraded for sure! i bet we could pull a fuell pump out of a harley to make it work... i have to look and see

I never got into the engine - the bike was put together back in the 70's and then put away in a shed. I bought it, and ended up selling off the goodies. Never even tried to fire it up.

But it was common to reduce the compression when fitting the turbo's to these bikes, as I recall reading at the time.

In hindsight I wish I had gotten it fired up, but I only paid $500 for the bike, and the US dollar was strong, allowing me to sell the turbo kit on eBay for US$900, netting me around CAD$1300. Sold the rest of the parts and bike for another $800, making me a total of $1600 profit off the deal which paid for my wife's scooter.

Keep us posted on this one - will want video of it fired up :)

oooh knowing Tim we will have video of the bike at the track running the 1/4 for u guys! hahaha track shoot out in August sponsered by 1/2 fast chicago, ill be running a few of my bikes with any luck this one can be there as well

we where in the shop working last night so i snapped a few pics
swing arm is not finished but it has been stretched, reinforced, and boxed to allow for the CB1000 wheels, the arm is noteven close to done and will look 1000% stock when finished

woah....looks like youre gonna need some longer shocks out back to get that thing sitting level or bring the forks up in the trees a lot.

loved seeing what you've done with other bikes (especially the naked-wing). i'm sure this one will be no exception. really looking forward to this project.

we had it blocked up on the golf cart tire that is prob why it looks uneven... frame rails being level to the gorund is one of my biggest pet peeves on builds, i go out of my way with suspension mods to ensure that they stay level :) to me it looks hacked if they do not and very 70's.... seat pan will take shape this weekend... went though our scrap bin in back and came across a old fender i had used to make my custom fender on the HD... with a bit of imagination and tossing ideas back and forth i think Tim and i came up with a pretty sweet way to do the seat, exhaust, and liscense plate mount... hopefully we can put this into metal sooner than later
