Not that hard because it isn't finished yet Have to machine a new triple tree axle or make the old one a bit taller by welding a piece in between. Right now, it's cut into two pieces to fit the frame. Only had to replace the wheel bearings to fit the fork axle, and make some spacers. Thats all
Some progress on the frame; fabricated a few pieces that together will hold the swingarm + shock into place. Bent a piece of 5mm steel, drilled a hole in the middle and Bert-Jan tacked it into the frame. Fits quite nice. Then another piece was cut and tacked onto the bracket, and finally, a tube was cut to hold everything into place so it won't bend or break while i'm driving. Looks great, and i think (and hope) it will work as a charm.
Also made some mounting points for the link system.
Pic of all the changes:
Welded the piece of tubing that has to be removed to install the engine into the frame now, so now, i'll have to take of my oil filter and oil pan to install it back again. Hope it works, otherwise i'll have quite a big problem : Going to give that a try this evening.
Been quite busy the last few days! Cleaned up the welds on the frame to prepare it for powdercoat. While doing that i decided to cut another piece of tubing to fit between the front down tubes. This frame is known as very twitchy so every enhancement that can be made i'll make. Oh and we put the engine in the frame, which went without any struggle at all, so that's one thing less to worry about.
Also made a seat pan tonight, struggled a while to get the bend right but it fits quite well now. Pic below:
And now the best part: Last few days i've been very busy modeling and shaping a seat out of seat foam on a cnc machine. Took some time to get the different settings right but when i got that done, these came out:
Second model is the one to go on the bike (bit bigger then ofc) but i was really glad with the way it turned out! Quick look how it will look on the bike :
Very easy. Just drill a hole in front of the hole for the old tank (this one is a bit shorter) and you'll have to cut the mounting blocks (those rubber things). Thats all!
I've been a very busy man lately and i'm planning a bike vacation to norway later this year so that's where all the money is going. When i have the time and the money to make any progress i will post an update!
Edit: Almost forgot: I did get myself some new stuff (headlight, new front fork) and did some photoshopping a few months ago:
So, if someone needs a pair of zxr750 forks, they are for sale
