Hey guys, just a quick question about fork boots on a 78 CB750k. I'm wondering if they are needed at all.

I bought http://www.dimecitycycles.com/vintage-cafe-racer-caferacer-bobber-brat-chopper-custom-motorcycle-lighting-parts-arrow-decco-style-black-smoke-turn-signals-blinkers-61-83742.html and want to mount them to something like this http://honda-cb750-s.456789.n3.nabble.com/file/n4042687/09-0013.jpg, but I currently have those big plastic/metal pieces from the factory (16/14) http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycles/1978-honda-cb750k/o/m9458#sch401648.

I'm wonering if, to install these, I need to take those pieces off and, if I do, will the forks be OK?

thanks for the help guys!

I'm not a CB750 expert by any means, but it looks like those only hold on the headlamp/Honda logos. The forks should be OK as long as you make sure they're clamped into the triple tree at the specified torque.

Change the headlight ears to a smaller type and mount the turn signals on the new brackets, high and tight, like trimmed older Triumph units. DCC should have the new mounting ears.

The factory ones are not a critical part of the fork. Odds are the upper tubes are already crusty, the headlight stanchions do not have any gaskets and moisture gets into them at will.
