I have it in my mind to have the seat hinged for access and locked down for security (of sorts). So, I ordered a s/s offset hinge to screw to the subframe and underside as well as a hatch lock to hold it down/in place.
I have two rubber locating bungs which sit nicely into holes on a subframe crossmember which further add to a firm location (they'll need shortening a tad).
Have I over engineered this? Could I just use the locating bungs without any firm/fixed means of seat location? Check out my build thread for seat info, cheers.
Re: CBX550 - custom seat - to hinge or not to hinge?
Small, but significant update: Had meaningful conversation with Cara doing the seat, she's now got my rendering and had a look at the materials, I just need to do my bit and she can do hers yay!
She'll run up a trial cover in vinyl before working on the leather for real. Important part the seat.

Some of you might have thought I'd taken a break or fucked orf somewhere sunny....but no, I've been busy but trying to do stuff as I can.
Really needed to get the seat in progress, so after an unsuccessful glueing marathon where the seat foam wouldn't stick around the edges due to too much elastacity I had to add another skin to tidy it all up. Turned out nice in the end me thinks
Drew a pattern to see how it might look....good imo.
Couldn't get the folds to suit the stitched seams I'd like but it's close enough.
Underside is neater and ready to take the cover. The razor sharp tin thingy is to hold down the cover securely.
Going to run the bug out of the garage so I can wheel the bike outside and de-grease the underside & engine ready for a splash of gloss or satin black.
