Ceriani forks 32mm

Hello folks.

First post on here, throwing myself on the mercy of the court.

I have a pair of 32mm GP style Ceriani forks, quite old but in good nick other than the fork seals leaking.

Gone to change the seals, and getting them out was an absolute swine... now I come to putting new ones in and I can't seem to find anyting that will fit. They are a double seal leg, as you may now, (photo attached) with two lips in the top of the fork leg, but standard 32mm seals won't do in, outside diameter being too wide, plus they are too rigid to get to sit under the lips... no flexibility in the body of the seal... HELP!

There must be some parts out there for them, otherwise it renders them unserviceable and thus unusable....

All tips appreciated

and that ^^^^

Thanks guys, I will send him a message.

At the risk of sounding very stoooopid, the recess profiles look very similar shape and dimensions to mountain bike fork seals i have replaced over recent years. There are many of those 32mm diameter. Given the quality and strength of MTB forks nowadays, would that be a solution, or is that akin to a death wish? They take a lot of hammer on a MTB, just not same speeds.... just thinking aloud there... tell me if I am crazy

Hell, 32mm is a skinny XC mtb fork these days. I would avoid that option based on fit concerns alone, though, unless a factory spec replacement was unavailable... At that point, why not? If it can keep oil in for a season of DH racing, it should be able to take motorcycle usage.

Well thanks for the input fellas.. The Guru Doug has come up trumps, and advised me these are shock seal forks and the best and simplest bet is to machine out the lips to a 42mm OD to allow the use of standard 32mm fork seals... two of in each leg retained by the original circlip...

I know a good machine shop so that'll be next port of call... will post the results.

Here's the bike in its current guise with the original Ossa forks from when it was a standard road bike... too long and under-damped.

Just to let you know, guys, the fork legs should be going into the shop next week, so I should have some progress by the weekend after this... itching to get back on the road!

Will keep you posted and put some pics on as well

Fork seals are available for those forks.

Those forks should already be 42mm recess.
