Chains and wide tires.

I found a deal I couldn't pass up on some brand new tires for my CB500t, they are a bit wide but did clear the swingarm barely with the axle half way in the chain adjustment. I bought a 100 link chain for my cb500t with the intention of trimming a link or two off it as needed, but noticed it added some nicer clearance for the tire. Unfortunately the axle is at the last notch for chain slack.

So I figure I have 2 options:

-Ride it the way it is and trim off a link later if needed as the chain stretches.

-Chop off a link now and deal with very little clearance for the tire at the swingarm (clearance will open up as the chain stretches).

Any suggestions? What sort of stretch can I expect from a "Heavy Duty" drive chain?

The tire has clearance issues at the sides, not really the "top". I hope to get at least a season out of it before I have to replace it, it is a cheap chen shing tire. I'm probably going to just ride it the way it is and worry about trimming links when it stretches a bit.

With the chain a bit long I have at least 1/4" of clearance at each side. This way there is room for adjustment to be sure I'm in line with the front sprocket. If I shortened the chain to bring it back into the center of adjustment that would be closer to 1/8" maybe.

The tire is a 130/90-18.

Your not setting the wheel out of line to get clearance are you?

What size tyre did you get?
