changing handle bars

Been Around the Block
I noticed on my cb450 the wiring runs through the handle bars from each grip end. For those of you who have switched to cafe racing styly bars did you just run the wiring on the outside or are can they be run through the bars as well? Also if you did not run them throught the bars did you eliminate any "perk" circuits?..i.e. circuits you really dont need. btw....I looked insided the headlight and saw a wire salad...lol....surprised me.

If you want to keep the internal handlebar routing then you'll need to drill holes in your bar just like the stock bar. Or the other more common alternative is to notch the controls and route the wires externally. Looks hack but easier to do. The bird's nest inside the headlight looks intimidating but it's not that bad.

ok thanks for the info...i would like a cleaner look without a bunch of wires hanging out all over the place.

Hey you were right about the birds nest i was going over the wiring diagram in the CLymer and it really isnt that bad. They were pretty good about keeping diff colors per side of the bike for certain circuits. Feel alot better about it now.
