Chrome plating - need a good plater

Anyone getting anything chromed? I have a few small bits that I would like to get done, and figure the more parts we get done the better the price would be. I'm looking at the linkage from my front drum brake (3 or 4 small parts).

Also need a recommendation on a good place to get it done. These are small enough to mail somewhere, so it could be done anywhere if someone has a good hookup for chrome.

Scarcat has some good contacts.. i believe he just got his new laptop chromed!!.. LOL!!! ;D.. all kidding aside, Hectors got all the contacts..

Tim, try Chuck at Mayfair Plating. They are just north of the Timmies on Lakeshore if i recall correctly. I had pieces for my bike done there and they are still looking good.

Mayfair plating is one of the places I was going to recommend.

I found a place out near my office - M Stanton. I'll also look Mayfair up.

www.customchromeplating.ca

Going to swing by and see how the pricing works. I only have about 4 small parts (all fit in a ziplock bag) that I need done. Its the linkage for the front drum brake. I presume with a dedicated chrome plating facility, the number of parts I bring in hardly matters in terms of reducing cost.

I'm going to ask about plating used exhaust headers too. So far in my travels I haven't found people who want dirty exhaust pipes in their tanks. Can't understand why :)

I talked to those guys once. I was going to have an exhaust done. They wanted $650. Bloody expensive, but all chroming is expensive.

I always liked the look of Nickel plating better...kind of a more classic hugh to it...anyone ever done any nickel plate on their cafe??

Hey Tim,

When you call around, just ask how much they want to chrome a cb750 tank...
Ïm very interested in knowing how much...

Thanks
N

Just saw an example today, on the headstock of a 1913 Rudge, beautiful, and expensive.

My bits are at Mayfair. For the brake linkage bits on the front TLS hub, I'm paying $40. Two levers, the rod, two clevis and two pins.

Nickle would be nice, but only if consistent throughout. Some nickle and some chrome wouldn't look right. Mayfair for the record won't touch used exhaust pipes. Don't know what a tank might cost. Probably less than you think.

You know I never even thought of that as a possibility. It would be interesting to know how much it costs.
Pressure is on tintin.
:D

WHile i think that would look absolutely sweet, i also think it could be absolutely dangerous on a sunny day. I've caught enough gleem in the eyes from just a chromed front fender, id hate to see how blinding a chromed tank could be.

I'll let you know when I'm out blinding everyone on the highway with my polished alloy tank/rims/hubs/forks 8)

BTW - they told me 2 weeks at Mayfair on Tuesday when I dropped the parts off, but I picked them up yesterday (Thurs). Look great. I'll snap some pics later.

Saw a nice set of fenders from what looked to be a smaller Honda, along with shock shroud covers and a clutch cover I think. They polish aluminum in there also.

They won't chrome used exhaust pipes or gas tanks (new or used) for the record.

Mayfair Plating at 96 Carlaw Ave. south of Eastern - (416) 461-4435. Chuck does excellent plating and polishing and his prices are very good.

yep - I ended up at Mayfair and got my stuff back in only 2 days. Looks great and I'll be going back with more.
